Treliving pulls a rabbit out of his hat to save the team. Sutter strangles the rabbit. Treliving is the one who isn’t re-upped and we are stuck with Sutter. Makes sense.

Sutter's system needs elite players. The players can make and create own chances, and score in limited chances while playing safe in own zone. Unfortunately this team don't have those players.
Sutter can win with elite talents, but not this team.

In defence of Sutter, at end of the day the season will have come down to terrible goaltending and a useless power play (with the latter being on the head coach I guess).

I would be very surprised if Tre signed another contract to work here. Why would he?
Temper your excitement for the draft if the unthinkable happens and Sutter is GM.

It's not just Huberdeau...it's Kadri too.

Plus I think you are probably going to hear something from those 6 upcoming UFAs as well and if they like playing for Sutter.

I think in the end Sutter's fate will be determined by what Huberdeau, Kadri, and Lindholm (during his contract negotiations) say this offseason. Maybe guys like Tanev and Hanifin too.

The roster is at a point of transition, and if those 6 UFAs say they aren't re-signing with Sutter here, and if the two guys you invested $130M+ into say they dont like the coach...then you probably move the coach.

I've heard Sutter wasn't the only factor but that he was a factor in Tkachuk's decision as well. So if you sided with the coach in that case...are you going to side with the coach again 12 months later when more guys say something. You'd be foolish to IMO.

That would be crazy. Right, right?!
Losses to everyone below us in the standings but Florida and San Jose. Still a chance to check the SJ box.

Buffalo, Washington, Ottawa, Detroit, St. Louis, Van, Arizona, Montreal, Philadelphia, Anaheim, Chicago, Columbus.

I'm inclined to agree with this

Sutter made it very hard for this new group to perform optimally

Put them through the ringer from the start, made awkward relationships with the big tag signings, likely alienating them in the process, and rigorously mishandled their deployments until every guy to a man looked like a shell of their former self with no idea how to create offense or use their linemates

With backlunds line the sole exception

They shouldn't have extended him it made no sense he wasn't coaching any other team.

He was brought in to coach the old core. Brad's words at the time was this team needs Darryl well that team is done for and this new team need to get rid of asap.

too many losses to those teams for sure but you aren't gonna sweep all those teams

even Boston has lost to most of those teams

Like I said earlier the Flames took 5 of 6 from the Yotes, not why they are missing the playoffs

From western Canada.

Does Lucic or Ritchie have any cousins in the draft come on down.

Flames have had a tough season. First goalies sucks. Then goalie started playing well and now the forwards suck. First Huby sucks. Then Huby starts playing better and many of the other forwards struggle. It's just been a very unfortunate year.

That said, I think we're about to see Huby with Lindholm. The Kadri-Huby line has seemingly been broken up towards the end of the game.

This OTL is acceptable because it is 5 of 6

The ducks regulation loss was the unacceptable result in this batch of games

Should be on a 4-0-1 run if they'd just showed up there

What is the reason we're missing the playoffs again?
