Even Montreal looks significantly quicker than us. The refs are garbage generally but when you lack the foot speed and the other team has the speed advantage, you're going to take more penalties.

I was under the impression this team could contend but unfortunately think that assessment was wrong. They lack the skill and speed to compete with the upper echelon of the west in a best of 7 IMO.

I sure hope Tanev is OK and that Weegar is back next game. Any defence with Stone AND Mackey is not going to get you very far. That was a circus in the D-zone.

Have to clean up the penalties, there’s been way too many lately. I thought Phillips looked really fast and dynamic in spurts. If he can become something that would be awesome. This team needs some finish.

I would have started Phillips in OT. I mean why not?

Markstrom is back and the young call ups performed well.

It used to be games like this missing our number one C and two of our top four D that we would say great our goalie got us a point and if it wasn't for three posts we could have had it.

Now it's comments comparing Kadri to Brower and Neil or people being mad that Sutter had the gall to play one of the best PKing vetarans "too much" in a game with a ton of penalties.

Has Covid broken everybody's brains?

You get a one off once in a while you go deep but it's not the norm. You need home ice.
The Flames aren't targeting the final WC spot. They're targeting the #3 spot in the Pacific. Still very attainable.

You also have to consider that other teams currently floating close to the Flames in the standings are likely going to pick it up. Hard to imagine Colorado not getting it together. Minnesota, Nashville, and St. Louis as well. We probably need to count on at least 2 or more teams (L.A. and Seattle maybe) to fall down the standing.

It's not looking good.

Four. Not fourteen. Four.
Does this look like a team that's closing the gap or having a bigger gap open up? Vancouver is right on our heels.

We have scored 2 goals vs the juggernaut Canadians in 2 games.

This was supposed to be easy now and coast into they playoffs.

What else could it possibly be? Aliens? Poltergeist? Him throwing games but trying to make it look like an accident and his aim is that good?

Dunno what you're expecting for a third game in four nights at the end of a road trip without Weegar and the 1C. It was a close one and they'll make the necessary adjustments before the Vancouver game.

Toffoli, the worst skater up front, first one out on a 3 on 3 is so Sutter. Either way they aren't quick or skilled enough to be much of an OT threatening team anyway.

So Monahan + Heineman + 2 1st rounders for Toffoli and $2.125M in cap space

Only a "dummy" like you would think that wasn't a FLEECE job

I would gladly bet on the flames finishing in a home ice spot over finishing below the Canucks by the end of the season.

Yes, things aren’t going as planned(we as fans had massive expectations which was probably unfair) but the season is still very salvageable.
