When you look at the numbers which take shot quality into account Markstrom isn't an elite goalie. He just isn't. He can go on short great heaters, and he played for a great defensive team this year.
I'm the Playoffs he was very good in the first series, and has been an absolute disaster this series.
He doesn't deserve to start another game this series.

The fat lady isnt warming up yet...but she's definitely in the building.
I suppose the Flames could turn things around in the next game. I mean, it's possible.

Win the next one without him to show yourselves that you can, then get him back in game 5 with momentum and gut punch the Oilers into the next dimension.

I hate to wonder what Markstrom thinks if you start Vladar over him though? He's been a main reason we've got here.

Which of the odd man rushes should he have saved?
Oilers killed 3 minutes of a powerplay in the third, they wanted nothing to do with playing anymore, so translating that into the Flames playing better in front of Vladar is very naive.

Just looked like the Flames were happy to be playing.
No intensity. No willingness to do what it takes.
I think Sutter has to answer for the fact his team looks nothing close to the one that would leave it all on the ice. Which is what a Sutter team does.

Stinker coming up for Smith.

Lucic can also score some important goals, hard to do sitting in the dressing room.

They need to feel confident in front of their goalie for a game.
They're not in front of Markstrom. It is what it is. This isn't a slight on Markstrom. It's about playing the chess game, damn it.

At least it can’t get any worse, right? This has to be rock bottom and it wakes the team up. Please god let this be rock bottom that wakes the team up.

11 minutes left in a 4 goal deficit?
Lucic was likely to see the ice another 2 or 3 minutes that game at most, and if the Flames got a few more goalsz even less.
He did his job tonight...Smith will say he's not rattled but his nose will grow as he says that. He's going to "try harder" to best the Flames and an over emotional Smith is a Smith the Flames want to play.

Honest question, what does moving Jarnkrok to the wing accomplish? Is he that bad? Yes, he hasn't score yet, what's his faceoff percentage? In moving him out of the lineup, who to put in? Carpenter? In the game he was in during the regular season, he wasn't that noticeable. Ruzicka? Putting a rookie that rarely played in regular season in the heat of the playoff?

Flames was one step late for the game speed. And Markstrom somehiw always slide out from the position so many times for these days. When he is shaky, everybody getting unconfortable when oilers rushing up. Hope he settles soon, get some good play for us.
