Probably because they felt like #### that they let their starter down again. Just like the other times Sutter put him in and they responded. That doesn't mean it would carry over to a start and I doubt Sutter would risk it unless Markstrom was hurt.

Flames need to break some of the habits they had from the Dallas series.
Against Dallas goals were hard to come by, so they needed the d-men to be more active in the offensive zone and the forwards could play more aggressive and deeper. Dallas wasn’t going to hurt them on the rush.
Against the Oilers top line though…you’re asking for trouble if you overcommit in the offensive zone. All the goals were like that tonight and they’ve feasted on the Flames in transition all series.
The 4 straight goals in game 1. Goals 4 and 5 last game. And all of them tonight were the same story where they just killed the Flames in transition when the Flames overcommitted.
Honestly think the Oilers are playing a bit of rope a dope here. Let the Flames overcommit in the o-zone and then we will kill them on the counter.

This is 100% on the team, not on Marky. They failed to show up and they didn't respond to Edmonton's pace or pressure. It was an abysmal effort and Markstrom held them in it for the longest time.
Nobody ever talked about pulling Kipper, even after a bad game. Don't be silly.
|
Look at his ####ing numbers. He is biting on every move they make in front of him and then they put it in the other side.

Maybe Jarnkrok finally gets moved to wing or out of the lineup, and Hanifin finally gets moved off the PP

It was a mercy pull, not a "you shat the bed" pull. Boys really hung him out to dry this game.

That’s a crock. They dominated Dallas for most of that series but got goalie’d. Everyone and their dog knew who the best team was in that series and it wasn’t close.

You’re right. I’m sure Markstrom will shutout the oilers in game 4. He is a Vezina candidate after all. Rock Solid game 4 coming up.

Just really disappointed. I thought we would come out hard in all three zones.
This didn’t look like a playoff game at all.

Lucic knows exactly what he was doing. Getting Smith off his game was the intent, mission accomplished. He could've hammered him worse.
Smith's first shot when he came back in, went in.
Now you get the press asking Smith the next 1.5d about the incident and getting that replaying in his head and coming out with some emotional response and BS on how it doesn't affect him.
Stinker coming up for Smith.

If you can't be willing to sit your Vezina finalist goalie because you're actually stubborn enough to not let yourself admit he has a problem against Edmonton, then you're not truly willing to do all it takes to go to the cup.
