Wow, crazy good game again.

Top line buzzing again, monahan had 2 posts, backlund/mangiapane end their droughts, markstrom was very strong.

Tons of credit to the flames. It's weird to see, but just how terrible were the blues and the jackets these last 2 games?? Both looked like junior teams.

From the Greasers section of the ATL:

Calgary is a better team and they play with much more will.
Yeap, because your dumpster fire of a team is NG.

These days remind me so much of "ye olden days" of early 2000s Sutter Flames. Yeah, you'll lose games, sometimes a real stinger. But beware ye teams that have to play us next because Sutter has some magical way of instilling some ridiculous bloodthirst into his players after bad loses and they come out thirsty for flesh.

yep, and this is why it boggles the mind when certain posters can't admit the Flames have had a tough schedule

From Around the league, Oilers section:

The biggest differences are the coach and the goalie. D Corp is mediocre and forward Corp is nothing to write home about. Treliving is getting carried by Sutter’s systems and Markstrom

The funniest part is the Flames have scored more goals than the mighty Oilers and their fans still believe this, lol

Hopefully their arms aren't too tired for playing the Blues tomorrow. Tomorrow's game will be much different than tonight.

I think we need to give the Flames the credit

4 games straight they have owned the other team...in a game of bounces, calls, ect. you won't win them all but 3-1 on repeat will have this team at the top of the league.

Is that so

What recent game has Markstrom stolen for them?

I think you have to go back to November for one of those.

When you're putting up 5-7 goals from your mediocre forward group, your goalies don't exactly have to be spectacular.

Was worried during the second period that we were gonna be "goalied"....Merzlikins was absolutely outstanding. Kudos to the guy as he had very little protection from his team.

Marky played great to not allow a goal during that time...which could easily have lead to a bit of a breakdown.

Breathed easier once we got #2, and a lot easier with #3.

Great game - hope they bring the same energy tomorrow night.

(And for some reason I thought a few days back we were playing Colorado tonight....must've been crosseyed or something!)

Really really nice to see Backlund open the scoring. He very clearly still has the skill it’s just work ethic and if he can get a little confidence then maybe it’ll give him that extra jump and having that secondary scoring could be huge. Between him and Monahan getting better it’s made a big difference.

Unreal job by Johnny hustling back defensively to break up an odd man rush, then ripping the puck up to Tkachuk for the 3rd goal with time winding down in the 2nd.

Huge back breaking goal.

Then the end to end rush on the 4th goal. Unreal

It's massive for this team. There's been times this year the top line has been quiet and when both Backlund and Monahan aren't doing much the team is in trouble. If those two get going.........huge.

I was thinking the same thing...reminds me of when TB just promoted their AHL line that was killing it into the NHL and it translated nicely.

Flames should steal that page out of the playbook for 10games.

I think the Flames should stick with the lineup that is owning teams for now

The team had 11 hits tonight. When you dominate you don’t need to hit. That’s about as good of a game as you can play to be ready for a back to back. I don’t expect another blowout tomorrow but the Flames should be as fresh as anyone going into a back to back.

I think Johnny was tired of hearing Sutter saying we don't have a player that can go end to end.

Even strength points this year:

1) Ovechkin - 44
2) Gaudreau - 41

I'm not sure how something like this is even possible.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1486509770110648326

The fourth line started chipping in a bit more in the third period, when the game was already all but decided, but man ... that's a laughable result from the first 40 minutes. The Flames are really, really, really good, but they still have some weak links.
