I bet they would do a deal for Koskinen and rip off Edmonton for some picks.

I don’t know what to think of this deal. I don’t hate it for Vancouver. Getting OEL at $7M is very risky but has potential to work out. I think Garland is a sneaky good pickup for them and is a solid top 6 forward getting better.
Dumping all that bad cap gives them flexibility for the offseason as well. Losing a top 10 pick stings though and Arizona is in full rebuild.
What is Dvorak or Keller cost?

By obviously tanking? I'm sorry but to me you should be trying to compete every year, not sell off your entire team for magic beans while eating crappy contracts. I hope every pick they acquire busts.

I think this might be worse than the Keith trade. Not stupider, mind you - some thought went into this - but in terms of the long term damage to the franchise it's worse. Keith will at least be gone in 2 years.

Not to mention depending on garland contract it’s debatable if you should trade 9th overall pick for garland straight up. Def shouldn’t when you have pettersen and Hughes to sign and only $15 mil in cap space before trade.
Now they have just over $16 mil and you can add garland to the mix to resign
No first and not a very good team that got a bit better but isn’t a lock for playoffs should not be trading a top 10 pick unless they get a ton better. They still need to shed cap

I feel like Vancouver got the better players but paid a ton in cap space going forward and draft picks to do it. 1st + 2nd is steep.

Garland is going to demand 5+ years. He's also undersized and streaky. If he doesn't live up to his contract, this has the potential to cripple the Nucks. This is insanely risky IMO. I mean this could work out....but it also could leave Vancouver with $12+ million in dead cap for many years to come.

This is an excellent deal. Garland is good, ok but OEL is dead weight and I’d take literally nothing for him.
9th overall? Sign me the hell up

That's a huge gamble by the Canucks on OEL. If he finds a way to get back to form that could be a very solid deal. I think VAN got better this year. I still think that OEL finishes his contract on LTIRetirment. At $7M he is still overpaid, but they did get out of some pretty bad deals.

Canucks mirroring the Flames in that they abandoned the rebuild too early. Benning is shipping out way too many high draft picks for non-elite players. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Canucks don't pick until the 5th round.

Lol
I think the entire Coyotes fanbase is happy with the #### ton of picks they've acquired utilizing their cap space and going full rebuild with Wright/Bedard/Michkov coming up the next 2 years.
The Coyotes are rebuilding the absolute best way possible.

They still have their 2nd for this draft.
