decent deal for the nucks in my opinion.

3 bad contracts out, get back a good winger, and a bad contract back, but still an effective top4 dman.

With salary retention I really like this deal.

Just move the Yotes to Quebec already. What a joke of a franchise.

True, but that's more money and they have some good pieces to re-sign. I'm not cap savvy but it just doesn't seem worth it?

This is exactly like Ladd - hurts them not at all because he's gone after next year. So are all of these guys. If anything, it just helps them tank for an even better pick next season.

I mean, try to look at it like two separate trades: Garland for a first rounder, and OEL for everything else. It's a clear win from the Arizona side... Even if they'd done those deals separately they'd both be good moves for the Yotes long term. From the Canucks perspective the Garland trade might be okay but the other one is a disaster.

AZ is tanking for '22 and '23 and using short term cap space which will last only during the tank to rid themselves of OEL"s long term cap space. They don't care about those Vancouver contracts because by the time they are ready to compete, those contracts will be gone. Garland is collateral damage.

AZ will have a top 10 pick this year and I bet they are higher than that going forward.

This probably feeds the Dvorak rumours.

This is awesome! OEL in Vancouver is a dream. Six years of seeing this give away machine working for the Flames! Awesome stuff!

They won't even have to wait that long. They'll be done next Summer and the Coyotes can get back to doing what they do best, taking on more cap hits for draft picks.

A team like Vancouver should not be trading their 1st round picks, especially top 10 ten picks. Maybe the pick doesn’t turn out, but top ten 1st round picks are so valuable.

There is also a certain AZ born player who becomes a UFA in '24........

Too bad they didn't manage this without retention. Would've loved that.

All 3 of those contracts they are sending, expire THIS year. Plus still have to pay OEL 6 years x $7M. When he's already trending down horribly

If you're truly saying you think Arizona is having a bad offseason, I have no idea what to say to you, because they're one of the clear winners by far so far

Francis has got be wondering what to do with all his cap space as he watches Arizona pick up 4 seconds and a first over the last week.
