How am I taking it personally? It's a thread about Hall but you wanted to bring up Tanev.

Oh great another year of wondering about where Hall is going to end up.

What a disappointing day this has been.

Meh.. I am sure that the Flames could have and would have dumped salary somehow. I mean, what's Hall's worth? Let's say it is a 1st and 2-2nds. No, probably not going to dump Lucic (as he has a NMC - but who really knows) - but you could dump players who have more positive value, and you could attach some sweeteners to make sure you don't get any salary back in this covid world.

Flames would have made it work. Hall chose Buffalo. That's ok. Now it is time to move on and find other guys that want to be here.. or just stand pat and re-sign the existing RFAs.

This. He probably feels like COVID altered the market so instead of signing the longest deal he will and most important one - he takes a year and can try again next year to really cash out- probably with better numbers after playing with Eichel.
In the meantime Buffalo makes a move to keep their franchise player happy.
Makes sense to me on both sides.

I wonder how much (if at all) playing for Krueger again factors in

You’re right it’s very rare, which is why although it’s technically a risk I agree it’s not a very large risk. You’d have to dislocate your hip or something.

Seeing the NMC, you have to think nobody was willing to give Hall one this go round.

Might as well have your pick again In a year as opposed to being possibly forced to go to Seattle.

Not surprising. Another stop in the Taylor Hall Plays in all the Worst NHL Cities North American Tour.

Next year... the Jets!

I wasn’t seriously thinking he would sign with the flames but did anybody see him signing with the terrible sabres? Wow, I am surprised. When the media discussed him thinking on his future I assumed it meant which contender...

So at the deadline Flames will make a move for Hall in a hockey trade, since they will need to send dollars out to fit him under the cap. Deal won’t make sense for Buffalo, or Flames will get outbid. Then we will dream of trading Gaudreau for high end prospects and picks and sign Hall as UFA, not giving up any assets, only to realize we don’t have the cap room to sign him.

Is there any doubt we’ll be talking about this for next few months?

"Winning is important to me, I want to win"

Signs in Buffalo, the only team in the league that can give the oilers a run for their pathetic embarrassing playoffless money.

Brutal.

Hall isn't that good. Why did three teams pass him along? Not sure why some of you clamored for him.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod
Told from multiple sources Colorado was one of the team's to pitch Hall a short-term offer, but the AAV was considerably less than the $8M he got from Buffalo.

Risky gamble if he gets hurts or if revenues fall more.

All the best in BUF.

For the record I do not wish injury to the player.

I honestly won't be shocked to see free agent Nugent-Hopkins and Hall reunite in Seattle.
I don’t think RNH is leaving the Oilers...

Love it. Would have been better if it was 7 years. We dodged the bullet!
