uh, Flames hit a few posts too...Sabres got most of the bounces. They scored on every single shot after the 2nd period FFS

The Flames have had sloppy efforts to varying degrees of late, but have been getting away with it. I hope the loss helps them refocus.

No he was on the ice for second shift of OT. Guess the limp was a false alarm.

FWIW, it would've been 3 games in 4 nights, but gauging on the effort they put into tonight's game, it ends up just a back to back games. May be they are saving their efforts for the Oilers game.

Yeah tough night for Rittich.

A bit unlucky on the 2 goals in the third (one a tipped shot, and the other a breakdown that left two Sabres completely open) but he still needs to make one of those saves.

The Eichel goal is a great shot right from the circle but still saveable IMO.

Every goalie has nights like that, will be interesting to see how he bounces back. He was really good in the first 40 IMO.

Well I’m glad that all of the other goalies in the league are pretty much garbage because Monahan scored a boatload of goals on nice ‘still saveable’ shots.

(Superstars score, you know.)

Yep, he let in three straight shots with a post mixed in, and a .826 save percentage. Bad night, move on.

Meaningless stat. Uninformed opinion.

I just got back from the game so I don’t have the benefit of play by play or multiple replays, but that may have been the worst officiated game I’ve seen line in a long time. That non-call on Tkachuk getting high-sticked stick which led to the Sabres first goal should be grounds for termination. The referee was starring directly at it. The missed slash on the Hathaway’s breakaway, The second Backlund penalty was ridiculous and apparently you are allowed to do whatever you want to Tkachuk short of impailing him. The Flames should be contacting the league after tonight.

Not so much as a peep from the Fan960 crew about officiating on the way home. Loubo and Wills would rather spend their time talking about 3 goals on 3 shots half insinuating Rittich would like to have one of those back. Jesus Christ guys. We all know you love Smith, and we would all like him to be an adequate backup for our run, but Rittich is our Number 1. Time to move on from that.

Not gonna win every game. Getting a loser point out of a game where the Flames were the better team is not the worst thing to happen. Thanks to a good OOT we're still putting some more air between us and the teams chasing. Onwards!

That was CFL level officiating. Unacceptable.

I wasn't able to join in the "Refs you suck" chants because I had already lost my voice from screaming my protests earlier. And the goals.

It was unbelievable. Twice they hauled Johnny down on the PP but the clowns in stripes refuses to call a 5 on 3. I don’t normally question the integrity of refs (it’s a fast game), but tonight was something else.

I hope Tkachuk is alright. The missed call towards the end was bad

By some weird fluke, I ended up hanging out with Johnny a bit after the game in this box (I guess it must have been a raffle prize or something), but was chatting with him - I joked a bit "a quiet night for you of late - two points". He says "It should have been three. I should have shot that one in overtime. gah!"

Friendly guy.

The 2nd goal was actually deflected twice. Off Froliks stick up high, then deflected off Backlunds stick in the slot. Can't blame Rittich for that one.

Eichels MO coming down his strong side is going short side high glove, good shot but Rittich should know that in the scouting report, looked like his glove dipped a little. I don't know how many times Eichel has scored that exact same goal this year.

Anyway he has been excellent all year, chalk it up to one of those games. At least we got a point. Come out on Friday and take care of business.

I think Eichel fooled everyone there including Gio. Had been on the ice forever. Played it like he was exhausted and then just blew by everyone. Very impressive.
