Gillies should go in and smash Howard there. Howard was trolling.

Whos job is it to have the team prepared Glenn?

Calgary started the game really well. Lack was not to blame on first two goals against. However, as Galley said, the team needed some saves. Is his confidence a little shaky from his last year and not having a lot of playing time? Probably.

I don't think this organization is going to bail on him as they've shown tremendous patience with players. To their credit but perhaps a little too much patience is being displayed by the coaching staff on some other areas:

-Brodie-Hamonic pairing. Which of these two is actually playing the worst? I can't say but both together had a few good games and more bad games.

-PP1. Versteeg is an easy target (and I've been frustrated by him on point) but it goes further. They often don't even generate any momentum but the coaches keep putting them out there and don't seem to change anything. Frustrating as all hell to watch.

-PK. Are they too passive? Different personnel? Something's got to give here.

The positives all year have been Gaudreau's offence, Smith's goaltending (until injury) and Gio's fire and compete level. They need more from their high TOI guys and just more consistent effort.

It's one game and no reason to over react but IMO they have a winning record in spite of these glaring flaws and largely on Smith's play ->which they may have rode too hard. The trend going into this game was quite good and I expect them to play well but those weaknessess need to get addressed.

I like Gully's comment on Lack

"We didn't get any big saves early, but I don't know which one he was supposed to get. Maybe the one with Zetterberg jumping 2 feet, er, 2 inches from his face, where he couldn't see? I don't know, we just weren't ready to play."

Some of you wanted the Flames to start beating people up...they are already gonna get the book thrown at them

We need some players next game

It's a blowout game that you're losing, Witowski just took it way too far against Kulak with a dirty slam but Witowski is already off the ice and Tkachuk reaches in for the tap?
Okay fine, now there's some posturing with teams getting in each other's face. Even so, Witowski is still pulled back and turns to leave. Tkachuk goes too far again in shoving him. Why? Are you going to send a message to a player and a team that you'll no longer see for the rest of the regular season? Or a statement to the league that you'll stand up for your team when a no-name guy is already being sent off by initiating a scrum?

Not going to point a finger at any single player or individual moment as it all played a part but did want to share my 2 cents on Tkachuk's part in it.

Don’t agree with this at all

Well said. With Smith’s superb play the Flames are on the playoff bubble early in the season. Without it, they’re probably on the outside but not disastrously so.

Witkowski being interviewed on the DET broadcast right now.

Claiming Kulak went after him so he had to fight him.

Then again said someone speared him in the back of the leg as he was going off the ice. Detroit crew then immediately called it a love tap instead.

Yup. +1 for sticking up for Tkachuk. -1 for still not being able to prepare a team to play.

So I guess today Gulutzan is an even for me.

The Pens have a similar problem to the Flames but worse, neither of their goaltenders can stop a puck worth a damn.

I think he’s had too many concussions and is living in an alternate reality.

I have a feeling Eddie Lack is going to be like every backup we had for Kipper and rarely if ever win. Not only that the Flames get lit up in the games he plays.

What is the cost to bring Chad Johnson back?

Gotta say, proud to see the Flames players sticking up for each.
When will the refs be held accountable for this embarrassment? It's gone on for far too long.

Just hope this game doesn't de rail a season. Nasty blow outs like this do that to teams.

not really...games like this are pretty common these days. Might have the opposite effect.
