			Hahaha, from Reddit:
The Colorado Avalanche dropped as many spots in the draft order as the number of goals the Chicago Blackhawks scored in the playoffs.

I am a bit confused with this year's draft lottery. I guess the rule about team can only go up a few position no longer exist, right? I wish they would have this rule a few seasons ago. I am not complaining though just confused. I actually love the results. Team will now have to watch when they plan on tanking the season. I love that the Avs and the Canucks not winning the lottery and went down 3 position down. Avs was definitely guilty of tanking the season and hoping they can have the same luck as the Oilers collecting #1 overall pick. Canucks I am happy they went to #5 because I just can't stand that team. Overall the draft lottery turned out well. Too bad it didn't happen a couple of season ago.

Love the draft lottery system and the great results this year. It is especially hilarious with some Nucks fans cheering for losses.
I think the new system is a perfect balance of preventing tanking while still distributing high picks to weaker teams.

Yes, the rules were revised over the last few years. Now, they do three separate draws and the winner of each draw picks 1, 2, 3 regardless of where they finished in the standings.

Last year was the first year of the new rules.

I remember how upset I was last year with Winnipeg winning. Still kinda feel for Canuck fans, but kinda don't at the same time.

Unless it is the Flames who drop from picking an elite player I suppose. The Canucks were not tanking, they were just an awful hockey club. They tried to out together an aging core but as I am sure is evident they failed miserably. I don't care what the fans cheer for, the team went out every night and played hard hockey, they didn't do what Buffalo did a few years ago and dress a third string goaltender or anything like that in an attempt to move up. The draft being as it is just ensures that there is the potential for teams that don't need the help (Philadelphia) get the help while legitimately awful clubs that just suck (Vancouver) are put into the perpetual Florida Panthers spin of drafting in the 5-8 range.

This is a bit of bitterness but it legitimately smarts to think about how the club I am a fan of gets the fuzzy end of the lollipop.

The Leafs orchestrated their tank for the first overall pick a full year before the draft and while is paid off for them it's not something you want teams emulating every time there's a some really good players available via the draft. This draft lottery result will hopefully prevent teams from purposely throwing away entire seasons in the future.

It kind of looked to me like like Willie Desjardins was the only person in the organization interested in winning anything in the 2nd half of the season and he got fired for it.

I think they want to remove Buffalo type situations where in 2015, they knew by finishing 30, they were guaranteed McEichel. The fans were cheering for losses and they were icing AHL lineups every night to lose games. I think the system is good in that that kind of buisiness can't happen again. You can do all you want to lose games, but at the end of the day your fate lies in the hand of the dice.
