Not going to win too many hockey games when your goalie gives up three goals on four shots. Johnson sewered the team tonight.

Soooo....... how much are the Flames going to spend on Bishop? It's clear Bennett isn't going to land big $$

Paying Bishop $7M for 6/7 years scares me...
Not sure what other solution is out there.
I guess I'd rather sign a big UFA than trade a lot of assets for a #1.

They're gonna have to go on a hell of a run to get me back on board.
No comebacks this season after countless ones under Bob Hartley.
Can GG get a room full of guys believing in themselves like that? I haven't seen it. They come in unmotivated and they give up when things don't go right. And when they do, so do the fans. And tbh I think belief looked a whole lot better on this team than "structure" does.

I have a hard time cheering for, or even liking most of the players on this team. Aside from Tkachuk and Backlund (Edit:forgot Engelland), and maybe Chad Johnson and Frolik. So many dumb plays and lazy efforts. Hard to root for these guys this season.

Unless the goaltending improves this team is going nowhere. The team's overall play of late hasn't been as bad as everyone here seems to think it has been. But Johnson has been pretty lousy. The guy is a career backup so it had to be expected he'd regress some.
I think if the Flames want to salvage the season they're going to need to pray Elliott can return to form. With the goaltending the team has gotten lately it doesn't matter what the rest of the team does - they're not making the playoffs.

I give Johnson credit for owning up to his mistakes. No excuses ever from Chad.

Yep hasn't been a fun night at all. Won't be fun Monday going to work either. Brutal game. I hate losing to that team.
Don't feel like dissecting the game tonight. I just hope it is a huge wake up call for the team. I mean if they don't respond then quite frankly they won't deserve to make the playoffs.
And please get Kulak is the lineup and please start playing Brodie on the other side. Time to stop trying to force what clearly is not working back there.

honestly why did Chad start tonight in the first place? Elliott needs to be given the ball sink or swim...he needs a big run or the Flames need to start looking for a starting goal tender

Lets hope that the coaches and Tree have a better feel on Gillies and his development. I agree with you on Bishop and dislike those long term type deals when it comes to goaltenders.

Last post of the night. Jokipakka I'd terrible. What he did on the 3rd goal was beyond stupid. Guy is a #7 dman nothing else.

Agreed, I'm a big fan of Johnson's, but tonight he wasn't focused and it cost them the game. Personally thought Elliott should have started from the get go but what can you do.
Also pretty disappointed in Bennett. That's not the response he needed. He's playing with this team's best player and still can't get anything done. Monahan is looking good right now, might try him with Gaudreau next game. Johnny is frustrated. He needs a puck or two to go in for him.

Eventually, a goalie in the Flames system needs to take the ball and run. So many tandems and flip flopping. Enough already. Who's ready to step up?
I don't care if it's Johnson, Elliott, Rittich or Gillies. Someone needs to show ability to be a competent goalie that can put it together for more than 4-5 games at a time.
And that doesn't mean never allowing more than 2 goals a game, I mean severely limiting the number of games where you're allowing one to two-thirds of the pucks coming at you to go in.

We are really primed well for the expansion draft.
The Flames probably benefit more than any other team from it. No need to protect a 4th defenceman. Very few good forwards.

The "Edmonton is No Good" thread should be locked. We have absolutely nothing on that team.
Man, what a humiliating series. And if going 0/4 against the Oilers isn't already bad enough, the Canucks are one point behind us with two games in hand.

My mind keeps coming back to the 2014/15 Flames and how much I loved watching them. One of the most memorable seasons as a fan, such character, heart, the comebacks, the passion.
How have we fell so far in 2 years??? This team lacks everything and is going backwards.

Did anyone bother to hear what Gaudreau had to say after the game?
