This is all so subjective, though. Guys like Jason Jaffray and Nigel Dawes aren't anywhere near this list, because while they're great guys and I enjoyed watching them in other leagues, they weren't fantastic Flames.
I've always cheered a little more for the guys who really had to fight to make the NHL and be recognized. Iginla was a first round pick, #11 overall, and he was everybody's favourite player while he was here. But I always like to recognize those guys who aren't everybody's favourite player. So while it may be dumb to you, it's just how I think.
|
Could this be anything aside from blatant trolling now? You're putting Jones and Glencross ahead of Iginla and Kipper? I mean I personally have a hard time coming up with which five, but it's got nothing to do with those two. Hard to say whether they should even belong in the top five for their roster of the day, never mind an all time Flames list.

This was a guy who could do it all. Universally respected and loved around the league. A legendary and loyal player who commanded respect, and if he didn't get it, he would beat it out of you. A leader, a scorer, a tough guy, a sweetheart. A guy who played hard hockey, and yet is defying the rules of longevity. He's done it all.

I love Iggy as much as the next guy, it was just a preference thing. It is not a slight against what Iggy did at all.

You don't love him like I love him. You don't deserve him.

Well the last thing Iginla did as a Flame was screw over Jay Feaster and the Flames by pretending he was okay being moved to four teams and then pull the rug out and say nah, only PIT. That's the last thing he did as a Flame and I can't help but think of that every time I think of Iginla. I'm annoyed he did that. I'm annoyed Feaster got so little for him. I'm annoyed ownership didn't allow a trade earlier. I'm annoyed that Iginla often had horrible starts to his season.
2004 was a long, long time ago and frankly most of Iginla's tenure here was bitterly dissappointing. He stayed too long and we got crap all for him.
Greatest Flames goal scorer? He was indeed. One of my favourite players? Too much disappointment around his tenure and especially the way he left for him to be anywhere near that list for me.

As a kid/teen:
Fleury
Brathwaite
Tabaracci
Titov
Iggy
Now as an adult:
Iggy
Kipper
Connie
Regehr
Sarich
Gaudreau
Edit: How can I forget about Connie? He'd be my 3rd favourite, which moves everyone else down a spot on my list.
