But I have to admit that I've been jaded by the uber hype around the kid and its made me entirely sick of even hearing his name.
I can envision the media coverage over the next few weeks
TSN everytime his name is bought up the female sportscasters who are all wearing black start to cry.
Hockey Night in Canada this week starts with a 2 hour career retrospective on Conner, all the video is in slow motion, and black and white and some of the greatest ballads ever are used as sound tracks. Somehow they get Tom Hanks as the narrator.
In the intermission between games they interview several bone doctors about conner's injury, a teary and useless George Strompolammadingdong, looks tearfully at the camera and sends his heart felt prayers to Conner and his family.
Justin Trudeau orders all Canadian Flags to half mask and all poles must have an Oilers flag Trudeau declares "Conner's injury has ripped the heart out of this country, the Canadian Flag will not rise until Conner is back on the ice."
Later that day Trudeau blames the crashing economy on Conner's injury "Canadians have lost hope" he soberly states as he invites foreign dignitaries to a prayer session to pray for Conner's speedy recovery.
Sometime next week, the Oilers have a press conference to discuss Conner's long term prognosis, the Oilers declare that they are putting a hold on the new buildings construction. "Without Conner there's no point" states a clearly shaken Katz.
CBC starts a video series that's played on each intermission of each game until Conner's return. They title it "The road to hope"
I could go on but I need to vomit.
Get well soon McDavid damnit sun, the world needs healing.

You joke, but this one is probably going to happen.

man the play by play guy was really trying to blame the 2 flyers but i see alot of injuries for him with how fast he goes
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. He needs to remain in control, and more than that, he's going to put dmen in position like happened last night. His speed creates higher risk of a random injury happening like last night.

I feel bad for McDavid, and even for Oiler fans a little, but on NHL Network Radio it's like the world has ended. Its gag worthy.
There are 30 teams in the NHL. Losing one player, even one with the potential of McDavid, for a few months does not make the league any less intriguing or exciting.
NHL media is awful.

I'm not even happy it happened to the Oilers. All this will do is ensure they get another top 5 pick. Feel bad for McDavid as a person but the Oilers will benefit long term from this. This sucks from every angle.
Let's be honest here... they would have eventually found a way to crash hard enough to achieve a top 5 pick all by themselves anyway.

Edmonton Oilers @EdmontonOilers
Connor was admitted to hospital last night, scheduled to have surgery. Chiarelli says he'll be out of the #Oilers lineup for "months".
how scary is it going to be for him when after waking up from surgery the first face he's going to see is Mark Messier staring down at him
Lol, I can just imagine Messier showing up with get well flowers, and a big smile on his face. "Hey Connor, now we can totally chill for the next few months while you rest up! It's going to be so much fun! We'll have sleepovers, roast marshmallows, tell scary stories at night. It'll be a blast! Can't wait!"

Months is a long time. I wonder if he did more than just broke the collarbone? When I broke mine apparently I was pretty close to puncturing a lung as well.
