McDavid needs to embrace heel mode and give updates about his shoulder each day like Randy Orton

I wonder if Justin will add him to his cabinet...

Now that he has some free time.

Seems fitting.

My god, some (soon to be deleted) Oiler fan friends on facebook are all up in arms saying that he lost his edge because of a dirty high stick from the Flyers.

I honestly think being an Oiler fan comes with a set of blinders and a 20 point IQ drop.

I hope he recovers quickly. I felt bad for him seeing him on the bench realising that this could be a bad injury.

I hope he heals quickly for no other reason than he helps them out of another top 5 pick.

I swear to god, if the oil pick top 3 again this year I'm quitting the NHL.

Some of the reaction I've read would be more fitting had he died. This one injury to this one player is getting more attention than all the other injuries around the league combined.

When he returns, the media coverage will be like if the Navy Seals saved Obama after getting kidnapped by ISIS.

I for one look forward to the Crosby level of injury updates everyday for the next 4 months.

Wow. This is the second worst thing to ever happen to Connor McDavid in the NHL. The first happened on April 18, 2015.

Nick Kypreos @RealKyper
Despite comparable to Kane injury, because McDavid is still in his teenage years, the healing process is expected to be months not weeks.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Connor McDavid expected to have surgery to repair fractured clavicle.

I can't wait for Hall to tell Matthews not to screw up what they have going on there...

I'm going to predict the oilers go on a 0-10 slump.

Haha oh boy. During the Crosby head injury days it was brutal.

You'd literally see stories like "BREAKING: Crosby still sidelined with symptoms" or "UPDATE: No update to report".

I thought only complicated clavicle breaks require surgery, no?

I'm sure the kid will fully recover but the Oilers should be well out of playoff hope again by the time he's back.

Anyone who's happy or gleeful about this is a complete loser.

And this is from someone who yelled "McDavid sux!" after the oilers game in a completely empty saddledome as McDavid was hugging his family in the lower bowl.

Should be a somber event. I wonder if there will be a slide show of Connor's childhood photos to "I will Remember You" by the incomparable Sara McLachlan.

Do photos taken from last week still count as "childhood"?

Truth be told, I'm happy McDavid the phenom will not be playing for the Oilers for an extended period.

I am certainly not happy the poor kid got smashed like that. His fight last year coupled with his reaction after yesterdays McInjury made my respect for him increase. Kid just got up, skated to the bench and didn't whine. His face wasn't even wincing.

I guess my relationship status with this story is "It's complicated".

I'm not even happy it happened to the Oilers. All this will do is ensure they get another top 5 pick. Feel bad for McDavid as a person but the Oilers will benefit long term from this. This sucks from every angle.
