Thank you for your extremely thoughtful, educational, and helpful post.
It's helpful posts like this that put many of us to shame. We should all learn from Chief. <sarcasm intended>

Thank you friend. Its pretty obvious now that I was not fully aware of the intricacies of the NHL waiver system. I bow to your superior knowledge. <no sarcasm intended>... I really appreciate your explanation.... thank you again.
By the way, does anybody actually know if the Flames actually put a claim in for Shultz or is that information that the NHL does not release?

Again, thank you for another one of your informative and helpful posts. You obviously know exactly how it works and its wonderful that you shared that fact with me and all the other posters on here. <sarcasm definitely intended>

Considering they claimed another waiver defenceman the same day, it's actually not that far-fetched.
So you're not only wrong about how it works, but they may have actually put in a claim for the player you're mad about them not putting in a claim for.

Thank you. Everyday I learn something new. I was obviously lacking in my knowledge of the NHL waiver system and you have been very helpful. Posters such as yourself make CP the go to place for facts and information. <definitely no sarcasm is intended in this post>
Thank you again Backcheck.
Others come up with one line zingers while you take the time to educate.. thank you.

Seems like just a feeling and random speculation then anything.

That is exactly what it is. However, one does have to ask how Wotherspoon goes from being the first D called up and played last year when need arose to being behind Potter and now Schlemko this year.

He only played 14 games last year, and he's still just 21. I'm not ready to put much stock into being called up and not playing right now.

I think it's part of Treliving's philosophy of having our prospects mellow in the minors.

No doubt, and it is a good strategy. But after three call-ups this season, I'm a little surprised he hasn't gotten a game or two, at least. It seems Derek Wills is picking up odd vibes too. Ultimately it should amount to nothing though.

I really don't understand how Wotherspoon hasn't gotten a game in yet. It's like we're only interested in developing our forward prospects.
We are a rebuilding team and this is the stage you need to evaluate all your players. We need to see what Wotherspoon can and cannot do in the NHL so he can go back down and work on it.
Hell, even Cundari has been making some noise in the AHL lately and may be worthy of one last call-up.

Might have to be a way of sheltering him a bit too.
Don't really have a good vet that can help protect him on the 3rd pairing, and with the Flames in the thick of a playoff race one mistake could really put a lot of pressure on him.

The thank you posts to Antithesis and BACKCHECK!!! are actual appreciative posts (no spaming or sarcasm intended). I learned something from what they posted and I wanted to take the time to thank them for their explanations.
My responses to Da Chief.... not so much as his really weren't that helpful... but I doubt they were intended to be.

I'm not trying to be rude here but why would you honestly think that?
First team to claim the player gets him? huh?

Doesn't that just refer to players on 1way deals? / not players on ELCs?
