The biggest concern coming into the season was always going to be scoring goals. The first 25 games set unrealistic expectations for a lot of the fan base. When you rely so much on the D for offense it's impossible to sustain. I think the last few games are what we should expect to see the rest of the year. We'll work hard and out play a lot of teams but the games where we score 3-4 goals all the time will be hard to come by.....

Def wanna see the lines jumbled, that worked well for Hartley earlier in the season. he kind of stubbornly sticks to things now like he did with seto on the pp - which feels like forever ago
Not sure why people are so sad about this 7 game losing streak. From a realistic standpoint, I see them losing 9 in a row before the Oiler come into town. Think about it, they're 2 years into the rebuild and they've look great for the first quarter of the season. It's frickin funny how everyone's talking Hart and Norris trophies and making the playoffs when a quarter of the season barely played out; and now, the mention of McDavid is starting to come back up. Seriously, the way I see it, if they hit bottom 5 this year, the rebuild will be better going forward than sitting in the midst of a playoff hunt. The harder the Flames fall this season, the better it is. It's damn disgusting when you hear people talk about how bad this team is when it's still rebuilding in the early stages. This team reminds me a lot of the Young Guns era, except without a franchise player in the lineup. There are some good pieces and they're mostly winning by one or losing by one. If they rush through this rebuild, they're going to always be one or two players away from a good rebuild and as a true cup contender.

Didn't watch the game, accidentally caught the score when I came home so didn't bother. Bummer, really didn't want to go into Vancouver on a losing streak.
Oh well. Anyone going to the game tomorrow night? Or tonight now I guess. I'd be up for a celebratory or sorrow drowning beer afterwards if anyone else is.

Because right or wrong, the team upped expectations. Even the most grounded fan who expected the team to come back to earth likely didn't expect the results to become embarrassing. 7 in a row is hard to do, it's epically bad. Even if people though they'd come down from the high, the early part of the season gave hope that maybe the rebuild wouldn't have to take 4 or 5 years, that maybe we were a head of schedule. Pulling this incredible losing streak off has proven that the first part of the season wasn't just a little over achieving, it was completely un-realistic and this team is still years away from a sniff.
Have to think much of this is a mental thing for a group that overachieved and was the recipient of about a million things going the right way at the right time for them this season
Demoralizing for them and fans alike.. Almost everyone predicted our record would normalize over the remainder of the season; I am part of the large group that is shocked it happened this fast.
Hope the guys unwind over the holidays, have some fun with friends and family, and come back to the rink with a fresh outlook.

Thought the stars clogged up the dangerous zones nicely. Johnny with a few nice passes but lots into skates and into high density areas. So cliché but need to simplify even more. Some passes almost worked but with two or three stars on them the chances were grim. When do we play Edmonton again?
How can a team simultaneously look like they don't deserve to be losing night in and night out, yet also look like they'll never win a game again?
Such a strange season.
It is a strange season but I'm wondering why everyone is writing them off already. I understand that a seven game losing streak is terrible but this team is still giving it their all. It's just not happening right now. I've never seen so much awful puck luck (except for puckluck the poster, that guy was terrible). They are still playing hard and pushing the play, they're just not getting any breaks. That's my take on it anyway.
Going into the season I thought this team had a shot at the playoffs and I haven't changed my opinion on that. There's still 48 games to go. A lot can happen in that time.
I think the gaudreau/hudler line needs a new center with more skill/finish. Until Backlund's back, it is gotta be monahan.
Other than the 1st place ducks, the flames have played the most games of any team in the conference, if teams like the wild, stars and avs start winning their games in hand this free fall could have us back to bottom 3 or 4 in the west.
My expectations have been re-adjusted for the second time again this season. Baby steps, second year of a rebuild, last years bottom 5 team is progressing to a bottom 10 team, with some great showings of our youth movement.
