[News] Flames sign Head Coach Bob Hartley to multi-year contract extension

This is a good move as he brings exactly what the team needs right now and has them moving in the right direction. No news on the length of the extension yet??
For those that don't like the extension, lets be honest you can sack a coach at any time (see up North).

I am constantly amazed at Hartley's ability to present the same messages, day after day, with the same incredible degree of passion, belief, and integrity. Like he's saying it for the first time.

And the players seem to love him.

I was not a fan of the decision to hire him, I readily admit. But his commitment and passion have totally impressed me and won me over. THRILLED to see him get this well-deserved extension!

Yep. Hartley is doing a good job right now so it makes sense to keep things together for consistency sake and stability in the rebuild. That said all coaches are hired to be and the amount of money or term really doesn't mean anything as the Flames can easily cut bait if/when things go south.

2 is good for me. I know some here wanted 3 but I like coaches on shorter contracts. 2 more years is good enough for the RB. If they are not ready to go by then, maybe a new voice will be needed.

I agree that 2 years is a good extension - turns a 3 year deal into a 5 year deal, which essentially says: you're doing a great job!
