If the guy is a troll then let him troll and dont feed him, but dont witch-hunt him in real life.

I've already addressed in an earlier post that I don't think this is a thread is a troll job. I'll leave it at that.

Update: I've put a cat from the SPCA on the table. Not saying we're going to go that route, but you guys have swayed me enough to not dismiss it without looking into it a little further.

Does anyone here know sliver in real life?

My best friend in real life of 20 years is on here. He can vouch for my honesty if he wants, but I still don't have a clue what comes across as dishonest in this thread.

I agree with Sliver. No idea what the big deal is. Such an odd reaction. Probably what he deserves from trolling so hard in some other threads, though.

You don't love animals so maybe you can't see why some of us are so adamant he doesn't get another pet.

Haha, that's putting it mildly. It's probably the fact that I am not fond of animals yet have two very healthy very happy animals in my house. Not every person in the house needs to be a fan of the things.

Pets are living creatures. They aren't toys and they shouldn't be treated like they are disposable. Sliver has time and time again shown that he isn't ready to commit to being a responsible cat owner. He's been through three different cats and got rid of all of them and, as of last month, he argued that it was ok to kill a cat if he didn't want it anymore. The selfish mentality that Sliver has is part of the reason why we have such a problem with strays. Cats are supposed to be lifelong companions and a responsible owner will treat them like they are part of the family.
For a moment, juxtapose the way that Sliver talks about cats vs the euthanasia and your pet thread. If you want to see real love for an animal, you will see it in that thread.

You're right, I'll never write an 'ode to my cat' in the euthanasia thread. Maybe my wife will, though. Because it'll be her cat.

I'm willing to bet your cat will grow on you if you give it a chance. I was never a cat person growing up, never had one myself but all my friends cats hated people/kids. Probably says a lot about the type of friends I had though
I bought a ragdoll kitten a few years ago when I got my own place and he's the best pet ever, he's friendlier and more fun than any dog I've met and I love dogs. I can't recommend ragdolls enough if they're all like mine
As far as what you want Sliver they wouldn't be a good fit though because they're crazy hairy and giant cats

Do you still believe that it is ok to kill a cat if you don't want it?

I don't think I have ever believed that; however, if an animal is bringing you more grief and hardship than pleasure, it seems like a no brainer to look at removing it from your life. Life is hard enough and people get pets to improve their quality of life. If they're making life worse, I can't for the life of me understand why you wouldn't make a change.

Part of the problem here is that sliver is looking for a WEIRD cat. He ks focused on superficial things when it comes to pets.

I don't want another cat. Been there, done that. I'm a little sad for my kids that they'll grow up in a petless house, but such is life. They really want an animal, but I just don't think there is one out there that would be a good fit for me.
So yeah, don't worry all, I'm not getting a cat.
