I can't imagine that Jagr, at 42 (43 next year), is playing in the NHL just to play at this point. You'd have to think that that his awesome season would attract at least one potential contender next season.
If there are no top-tier takers at the start of the year, then I'd love the Flames to take a shot at him. He can always be trade-deadline bait should the Flames be nowhere near the playoffs. But I don't think he falls out of the contenders' radar in free agency.

It really depends on what he's playing for.
If he's chasing another cup then yeah, I can understand him going to a contender instead in free agency but I think his best option would be to sign a big contract with us to be flipped at the deadline to a contender at 50%. They'd be getting a veteran presence 60ish point scorer pretty cheap for their playoff run especially if retain some salary. That being said if Montreal makes him a decent offer he'd take that first over ours.
This is what he said regarding playing in a Canadian market:

Jágr said during a conference call two days later that the Montreal Canadiens had been his first choice as a free agent. "I always wanted to play in Canada and I wanted to go to Montreal if I had a chance, but Montreal wasn't interested," Jágr said.

#### Montreal. Vanek for peanuts and can get Jagr for uber cheap too. Damn monkeys out east.
Regarding who would go for him in FA, it's hard to tell. He has an attractive cap hit and can put up the points but he's aging and he'd have to beat out a few scoring wingers still in their prime. Market bias might affect his decision but I'm confident that the Flames can put together the most attractive package for him if they make an offer in July.
