This is a 3 year rebuild minimum; consider this year 1. Just stocking up on draft picks...can't wait til the trade deadline.

The future does look bright though. Hopefully we can bring up 2-3 prospects up per year:

2013: Monahan, colborne, Bouma
2014: Sven, Seiloff, Knight
2015: Porier, Gadreau, Ekblad, granlund
2016: Ferland, Kliminchuk, Witherspoon, Jankowski

My bad, I edited the post, was looking for Baertschi and skipped over Sven, haha.

I think Wotherspoon has a better chance of making it to the NHL quicker then Sieloff.

President Burke does not take kindly to bad spellers.

I thought so too, except that Sieloff went to the AHL...which led me to believe they were super high on him. And a lot of people talked about his maturity and poise etc. But he is injured, so you might be right

So this is kind of funny. The Coyotes Flames match is so boring and ultimately awful that the conversation turns to the Sabres and Isles (and not even dignifying the Oil)

I had a feeling that tonight's game would be rough. For one, the Coyotes are a team coached in a way that will prey on weakness but never ultimately and truly succeed. Sad because this is the crap that frustrates the Flames and results in a terrible beating where they go out with a whimper

Secondly, after the win over the Avs, Cammalleri's post game interview was among the worst I have seen. He spent more time looking down the hall and at his feet than at the camera. When Millions suggested that perhaps the offensive breakout was a positive development, he pretty much said 'hopefully' with defeatist attitude rather than exhibiting his gregariousness. I have never seen a guy with such a loser face after scoring a game winner. Ironic after his comments that left Montreal forced to dispatch him. Some leader.

I say, the team after Burke turfed Feaster is a bunch of guys that feel they were given up on and are now looking over their shoulders. Feaster's track record here aside, he was developing a certain atmosphere that acknowledged the rebuild and gave comfort, but Burke undermined everyone's confidence whether he expected to or not.

Start with a small roster you need to ask to overachieve. Tell a team (and their fans) they are too small and then all of the 5'6"-5'11", <190 pound guys who were empowered have been snipped.

4 shutouts in 6 games? Pretty darn close to rock bottom here. Amazing how much worse a team that is already bad on paper can be when they are demoralized.

Cammi is putting in a professional enough effort but if he is not flu ridden he is checked out and needs to go. We are right at the point we were last year where Iggy was going to go and the players are waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Yes he does. Do you see him sitting out games like Galiardi or Jones? Nope. His ice time has been cut in some games due to lack of production but he's still in the lineup. It seems to me that the coaching staff has more faith in a future franchise player in Monny as opposed to Galiardi or Jones. That's what I meant.

This is totally a team going through the motions waiting for the trades to come. The atmosphere seems to be so bad since Burke the saviour took charge, I blame him for this more than anyone else right now.

Way to go flames, now every goalie who shuts us out is going to think they deserve to be on the Olympic team!

Wasn't one of Burkes lame excuses to fire Feaster that we have to start holding on to these leads?

What about now when we can't score a dang goal. Make a change already Burke. So far you haven't been very impressive.

all i was saying was that this team was supposed to be flat out terrible. They have been a team that has been able to keep it close in almost all their games, and been a relatively exciting group to watch, despite not winning much. They have been considered the hardest working team in the league, we have heard that from numerous people outside the organization and fan base.

Hartley has to be applauded for that in my opinion, and i'm not even a hartley fan.

if everyone wants to start freaking out about the state of the flames, a team that seems to have completely derailed and can't generate any offense, let's look at Brian Burke DIRECTLY. There is a direct correlation between the firing of feaster/wiesbrod and the sudden craptastic play of the team.

I get that burke felt they weren't part of the future for this franchise, and needed to be removed. what i don't understand is why the change had to be made mid season, when things were going about as good as a Rebuild:Year1 could be going? did he not expect the team to have a reaction and the possibility that it would bring a possible change in attitude of some key players on the team? There's the excuse that we're in a race to a new GM with buffalo, so this had to be done asap... well by all accounts that rush is all but over, with rumours out there that no replacement GM will be in place till at least the offseason.

it's not actually even that big a deal (flames were supposed to suck, and now truly do), especially if, at the end of the day, the team is already looking at this year as a lottery draft winning type year, so the end result on the scoreboard is becoming more and more of a insignificant matter.

sorry for the novel. i just don't see a group of players that have packed it in, or tuning out the coach over the course of the first half of the season. i do see a different attitude and quality of play shortly after the GM removal.

Missed this one. Looked like I picked the correct weeknight to be busy.

How was Berra? Cost the game, or was he hung out to dry again?
