They are a lot younger and way more skilled team. They are figuring it out and maturing.
figuring out how to miss the playoffs again after making it last year. I don't deny they have some nice pieces, it's just a weird comparison since they're supposed to be in the mix and are barely ahead of our trainwreck of a team.

i really hope this year where the flames finally get the lottery pick (i'd put money on the flames picking #2 this year) isn't the worst year to do so when compared to last season and the 2015 draft.
my biggest disappointment isn't in the team sucking, it's in the loss of hope that the trade deadline was supposed to bring... i just can't see anything substantial happening other than maybe getting a late first round pick and some lower level prospects for cammalleri.
Remember when keeping Monahan up was going to cost us a shot at the first overall pick?
...remember in October when a bunch of people were on here running around and talking about how the rebuild will be a short one and that we're only a piece or two away?
you knew it was going to be a long year. Honestly that good start just delayed the inevitable, which is what they are doing now. This stretch leading up to the break is our dog days for the schedule. I think the Olympic games will be the perfect remedy. After the break there will be a lot more to get excited about (trade deadline, young players getting called up, college players, clarity about draft position, etc)

The Flames are currently right where they were expected to be and have the potential to drop further.
almost every prediction had the flames in 30th, so they are doing better than expected. they are performing better than a buffalo team that has about the same amount of skill and better goaltending and an edmonton team that has more high end talent.
i'm far from in love with the coaching staff but i don't think they're really in a position to succeed, and despite the recent slide, think they've got more out of the roster than most anyone expected.
he's gotten a rag tag group of disinterested vets, small soft players brought in by a god awful gm and a few bright spots(hudler, moneyhands and gio) to play 40~ games of mostly interesting hockey
not sure what your expectations were on the season, but they've sure surpassed mine going into it

On one hand it's good to lose because it gets a better pick, on the other finishing at the bottom only fosters a culture of negativity and failure. What a bad year to be a Flames fan, oh well, atleast there's beer.

We're giving Hartley credit for currently being ahead of a Buffalo team that is on pace to be the lowest point total team since the 2002 Atlanta Thrashers? Way to set the bar low.

We suck... firing the coach right now would be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Take deep breaths... everyone knew this season was going to be bad, next season is going to be more of the same. There is no point in getting riled up and screaming for heads to roll after every bad game. Hartley is here for the next little while to get us through the down swing. No point in bringing in new coach until he will be in a position to possibly succeed.
