The other comment is simply commenting on the size of the other team and presumably how the Flames will need to battle despite being the smaller team.

The first comment seems to be a comment about the over reaction people have to this situation. It isn't negative to Sven at all. The second comment isn't even about Sven but instead just a general comment. It was the reporter that linked those statements.

And Hartely's right, the way people react to everything he does with Sven you'd think he was having a calder worthy season.

Can anyone tell me what the point of a comment like that is?

Even if he is ticked at the media asking about it, say something else. You think he should be sent down, do it. If you think sitting him out tonight or next game or the game after that will help him fine.

But I cannot stand people in the organization giving little sarcastic jabs at one of their own players. May not seem like a big deal to some, to me it looks bush league and makes it look unprofessional and personal.

I'm sure some will say I'm overreacting and I'm fine with that, but I don't want to see stuff like this start in November in the first year of a rebuild. Either play him, bench him or send him down. Keep the sarcastic crap behind closed doors.

It wasn't. The only reference to kids before that statement was the writer of the article.

Embrace the rebuild folks and stop pretending you know what is happening behind closed doors--Sven's situation is not close to any type of crisis point as far as we know. And the only way we would know if there was any type of crisis is if he said something, or he called in his agent, or if the coach said something, if he started taking 2 minute shifts, etc.

At present, there is nothing to be alarmed about. Average to poor playing rookies often sit. Moreover, we have no idea what is happening behind the scenes, which may be as important in the coach's decision to sit the kid as anything happening on the ice (and no, I am not speculating that Sven has an attitude problem).

It's very odd, you have to admit. Whether the coaches changed their mind, or the media got the lines wrong, he heard about the conflict between Sven and Hartley somewhere.

Of course there is conflict. The coaching staff have a very talented young man who could help them win not helping in the least, and effectively telling them to go fata themselves. All under the microscope of story seeking media (it's their job) with nothing positive to write about instead. So every day they have to answer questions about it just to up the piss off factor a bit more.

If you take off the tinfoil hat though there is nothing more here than a kid and the coaches who haven't made it work, yet. As happens to lots of coaches and prospects. I am sure everyone is frustrated but that's normal. It will probably take all year but they will keep grinding as Sven slowly figures it out.

But Sven is in the line-up meaning it likely wasn't a shot at him.

Just one of those things that is harmless in the regular context but when you put that and the "Rocket Richard" quote back to back makes it seem like Hartley is throwing the kid under the bus.

I had posted the quote originally, suprised that it hadn't made it to CP yet this AM. Either way, just posted it for debate, not taking sides.

Not a fan of Hartley's moves, but he deals with Sven the way he wishes to, and its up to Burke if he's doing the right things...I'll trust Burke to sort it out.

But that's not a jab at the player. It's a jab at all the media and fans that have Sven on a pedestal and think he can do no wrong. If he had worded it more like 'Sven seems to think he's Rocket Richard' then ya, I would agree.
