I don't think I've ever heard the term recovered alcoholic. They are always recovering, because even after 20 years they know that one drink will send them over the edge.

And that's a big debate in AA. Many say you should never say the word "recovered". I know, for myself, I will never say that I am a recovered bulimic. So when this person says she is a "recovering" bulimic, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and believe that it is currently under control, as it is in my case. But what I was getting at earlier is that sometimes we, as recovering bulimics don't even know when it is "under control" or not since we need SOME exercise and SOME food. So it's a matter of degrees, whereas alcohol can be totally abstained from.

I'm willing to believe that she is a good role model in terms of being healthy. My sole objection is to the provocative nature of the language she used.

God forbid someone says something that you don't like, believe in, or questions your choices. People are so mentally soft these days that saying your offended turns into a self-righteous crusade.
This woman was promoting a healthy lifestyle and yes, challenging people to do the same. She wasn't slaughtering babies. Either agree or disagree but to debate her "snotty" tone is ridiculous. At that point people are just reacting to their own insecurities.

I'm sure I've offended somebody.

I'll respond to this one as it seems to be directed at me. I'd like to point out I certainly wasn't offended, I just think she took a snotty approach to it. That being said, she also took the approach that would generate the most attention and discussion, so good for her. While I find her message annoying, it's certainly a discussion worth having. Hearing the opinion/story from DevilsAdvocate is invaluable regardless of what side of the debate you fall on.

actually...it wasn't directed at you specifically. Just commentary. In one sense we agree that it is a conversation worth having. To me I think that is what she was going for in the first place....to get people to self evaluate.
