Are these Total War games any good? I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it if it's some sort of war sim.
Also, we're seeing a few repeats on the Flash Sales and Community Voting. There are a few games I'd like to see on sale that aren't like Kings Bounty, World in Conflict and some others.
For those that are buying are you just buying the one game on sale or paying the extra few bucks to buy the complete set?

TW is a fantastic series that excels in some areas, and kind of sucks in others. It's awesome if you love a mix of grand strategy and war game tactics. Also, the games cover a lots of different eras, so you can usually find a time in history you like. That said, the AI is atrocious (though better in Shogun 2). Still, Empire and Shogun 2 are both great, fun games. You can spend a lot of time playing them, whether you like the building and management of an empire, fighting tactical battles with individual units, or both.
I also wish they would put a King's Bounty game on sale -- preferably all of them, without needing to buy the complete 1C pack.

Picked up Bastion for $4.
Not really sure why it is reviewed so highly. Very average game. Certainly not worth the $15 I would have paid without the sale.

I think reviewers got carried away with the narration.

I bought the humble indie bundle a few weeks ago...
Amnesia, Braid, Bastion, Super Meat Boy, Limbo and some more...all for about $8. So if anyone missed out on that, no one but yourself to blame.

I watched a few movies of the games and while they look cool I don't think I could handle the games. It seems like you need to know about formations and unit placement. I usually just make guys and have them go kill without thinking twice about putting spearman ahead of archers or something like that.

You don't have to do the battles if you don't want to - I usually just quick sim them

Simple fix is to download the Darth mod for whichever TW game you have. It increases the difficulty and improves AI.

I bought Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion.
For some reason, that game has called my attention since preorder.

So far have picked up Limbo and 50% off PC Skyrim (currently on a flash sale...3 hours left). I got the 360 version initially as a present, but I'm betting the PC version will have a lot more longevity from mods and all that.

The gameplay isn't the best, but the game is a great work of art and storytelling.

That's because it's an awesome game. I've got the others in the series but I had to hold myself back on this one simply because I can't justify spending $30 on one game when I now have a huge backlog. I'll end up getting it once I've played through a number of the games I've picked up this sale.
Currently having lots of fun running through Dead Island with 3 of my friends.

Yeah, but the Darth mods change a lot more of the game than adding simple AI fixes, unless he's changed that for recent versions. I remember back during my Rome: TW days when I was making Total Realism, the AI was entirely hard-coded, so the best you could do was make formation changes, really. I'm not sure if they've changed that in the recent versions, but CA has never been really forthcoming with modders, even though Total War has a long history with them.
I would still recommend the series, though, bad AI or good.

From my understanding there are a lot more changes but I don't know what they are. I only started playing a TW game this past week (Shogun 2) and so far I am finding the AI pretty good on hard difficulty with the Darth mod. The AI seems to react to my troop movements and formation changes fairly fluidly and they always manage to do something I don't expect. I am having a blast with the game but I always seem to pick fights with numerically superior enemies lol. Makes for some interesting battles at least.

Dead Island is a great game! Amazing ambience. Some of the melee weapons you put together are pretty awesome. Very odd playing a zombie game that has more melee than firearms but still VERY entertaining.
Picked up LA Noires (SP?), hope that pans out. I also bought Sins of a Solar Empire. Played through the first tutorial but haven't been back. Been playing Portal 2 quite a bit and Duke Nukem. DN is a little dissapointing, no surprise there.

I liked LA Noire. It's very much an atmosphere based game though.
It disappoints me though that you really can't fail on all senses of the term. It holds your hand just enough.

Beyond Good and Evil is on flash sale right now. If you haven't played it yet, you definitely should, especially at a $2.50 price point.
