Not really a fan of what they're doing with the region stuff. I understand they're really focusing on city specialization and co-operating with others online, but I'd still like the option of being able to build a sprawling "real-life" city. I have a feeling this Sim City is going to feel quite a bit different from previous ones.

actually to me it seems like they're modelling real cities more in this one. most large cities aren't like Calgary, they're like Vancouver or Toronto, several smaller cities that get grouped together in one large metropolitan area. the video showing the Sims commuting to work from a different city pretty much confirms that, and i think it's pretty cool

I agree, I like it. They just need to eliminate the distances between the regions.

Damn. I guess that leaves me with a region of nothing but pure arcologies. That or Hookerville!

While I kind of like the idea, in practice I am extremely disapointed with what I've seen. Cut the distances between regions down. I'd love to build a subway system into my neighbours city to provide access and clean transportation to those commuting into mine. I don't even think you can build subways in Sim City.

i kinda think there will be some overlap between cities that you won't necessarily have control over, residential or commercial buildings that you can see on the region map when the cities get large enough but don't show up in the city map. kind of like how Rocky View surrounds Calgary and keeps changing as the city limits move

it would look pretty silly to have these two large cities with skyscrapers right to the border, but with empty green space in between. hopefully they recognize this

It'd be better if you could call down natural disasters on your opponents cities.

I am not sure I like the "arcade" look of the new sc5

I am a fan of a more realistic look. I really hope they have the transit problem from previous ones fixed. From SC4 with Rush Hour people would commute if you tweaked the demand levels.

You can always bulldoze their houses and dump them out. There is one little consequence if you bulldoze some houses in the low wealth areas. They won’t have enough money to move elsewhere, and there’s a chance they’ll become homeless. Then as the homeless move around your city, they’re harder to get rid of. You can create these problems that are trickier to deal with, so you have to be careful.
That's pretty awesome.

I would pay a large sum of money to play this right now.

Think about it, EA.

I wonder if they'll integrate any of the game into smartphones. It would be kinda cool to track your city from your phone, and checking commodity prices.

The downside is that I would never be productive at work ever again. Forever.

Edit: That interview seemed a bit odd to me. Some good info, but most of the time I found myself thinking "has this interviewer never played a Sim City before?"

Some really weird questions and phrasing of them by the interviewer.

Setting up the play.....setting up the play.

I'd be willing to play.

I'd build Scumtown (Hobo with a Shotgun).
