I would have totally gotten it if it wasn't only Bell and Virgin carrying it. lame.

Telus and Rogers should both be getting their versions of the Galaxy S II sometime this month.

I could handle a little bit larger screen on my phone, but I certainly don't need it much bigger than the iPhone 4. Bigger isn't always better.
Perhaps there's a market for an iPhone with an even smaller screen than the current one?

Well, yes, it is large r but I guess large is subjective. I don't think it's so much bigger that it's officially in "bulky" territory.

Pretty crazy that the company that brought capacitive touch to mainstream use is now re-imagining how we control personal computing devices with intelligent voice controls.
One tech blogger said it will be the feature you never use after a week, but I could just as easily see it going the other way: the essential feature you can't live without.
We'll see if the tech has caught up to the idea yet, but I could easily see intelligent voice controls fundamentally changing how we think about the relationship between man and machine.
Apple is a company that makes big bets on tech. Firewire didn't really pan out but multi touch really paid off for them. We'll have to wait and see how voice works out.

Pixel density * viewing distance = perceived "sharpness". That's the point you were trying to make, just with the wrong terms.

Ya, I see what you mean. Wrong terms.
Thanks for the info, hard to keep all these terms organized sometimes, and it an really cause my point not to come across clearly.

People have given up on voice control in the past, because it simply wasn't powerful enough, or was too awkward to use. If Apple can create something that works well, and is powerful, people will use it.

Just installed iOS 5 last night.
The new notifications on the lock screen are welcome but launching straight to the app from them is the best part.
Notification centre is pretty useful but not nearly as much as I thought it would be.
Banner style notifications are waaaaay better.
Camera from double tap home will be very useful.
iCloud setup a breeze. Bye USB cable.
Pretty solid release.

This. People said the iPad wouldn't work because Tablets weren't successful up to that point. It was also said that building a physical store was was a bad idea, as was making a smart phone. These ideas were based off the idea that current models were poor.
Apple takes a lot of heat for claiming that they are the first to do a lot of things and I can agree with that criticism. In many cases what they are (imo) is the first company to do those things with the user in mind. Yes voice control sucks as it is today, but from the examples I've seen they are taking it to a different level where you speak naturally and not with a set of commands. We won't know until we get to try it, but my experience with Apple products leads me to believe it will execute well enough that speech tech will become more of a mainstay than many believe.

I wouldn't say that, entirely. Firewire very adeptly met the requirements of a lot of creative pro's at a time when USB was utterly insufficient for real time anything. It's still better for doing low latency and low CPU intensity data transfers when dealing with audio and video devices.
Of interest, the new F-35 fighter uses firewire too.

Cool. Can we daisy chain them and create a super flying fortress?
