Keith saves the day. I had a concern with my furnace after kicking it in earlier this week. Ran a question by Keith and scheduled a service appointment after reading his experienced advice. He saved me some premature damage I otherwise would have unknowingly caused.

Thanks Keith!

Had Keith in this morning to do an inspection/duct cleaning. As expected he was not impressed with the prior furnace companies work and for good reason as I got to see myself (laziness and lack of attention to detail by the prior companies). Anyway, great work done by Keith - very knowledgeable, honest and nice. Did some additional work for no extra cost. Thanks Keith! I'll be a future repeat customer and will refer you to others.

Had Keith in this morning to clean our furnace.

Pointed out we were using the wrong filter and got us all set up with a good one.

Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Thanks to Regulator75 from the I-just-have-a-quick-question thread.

Keith, we're doing a reno including the kitchen and a six-burner gas range. Due to the CFM of the fan required for six gas burners, we need to upgrade our makeup air. We've talked to a couple of companies and the quotes were 1) less than $2K and 2) more than $4K. This seems like a pretty crazy range, so we need somebody reliable (CP-referred!) to help us out. What are your thoughts on what we need to do, do you do this type of work, and if so, would you be able to check it out?

Thanks!

The prices unfortunatey are going to be reflected by most companies who are busy dealing with the Hvac industries busiest time of year.

I personally would not be able to help you but I strongly suggest getting as many as 5 quotes......checking the BBB website for each companies accreditation ratings ....and going from there.

hope this helps.

Hey Keith, question about furnace balancing/troubleshooting. Just wondering if you do this or you have a recommendation of someone who does.

We have a two story house that seems to have some balance issues. When it gets cold, the heat neglects to find it's way into the two bedrooms upstairs at the back of the house. Kinda important, since it's the babies room. Any advice?

Got you booked for the 22nd. I also pm'd you about a question on our furnace filter, but no big deal- question was more or less answered when I made booking.

Please check the following:

filter...are you using a pleated filter?? 30% of airflow is lost using a pleated filter.

close off other vets in the house to boost airflow.

Dampers....if you have an undeveloped basement check to ensure dampers arent closed off of the main duct in the basement.

Furniture over vents??

how old is the furnace?? CFM values may be lower on older models and have less airflow distribution causing a colder house.

Let me know regardless

Thanks for the info Keith. Yeah, pretty sure I'm using the Filtrete pleated filter. What's the best type to use?

I've already closed off the other vents including the basement vents. The vents are clear of furniture (except for one, but it's a book shelf with about 4" clearance under it). It's an 8 year old house, so I would think that the furnace should have proper airflow, but who knows. Maybe they undersized it. I bought booster registers that are supposed to kick on when they sense heat, but they don't work worth a damn. Way too finicky. Is there a way to get more air flow without replacing the whole shebang? It feels like when the furnace kicks on, there is barely any flow through even when basically all other vents are closed.

what end of town do you live in...if your near me ....i live in the hood (the properties) maybe I can swing by .

what type of vent boosters? plugin or solar??

other things contributing to airflow loss are vent filters (worst invention ever)
