The last thing this team needs is another one-dimensional star forward.
The last this this team needs is someone who has all the intangibles but then only gets 5 points a year.
Okay maybe that's not the last thing, but it's definitely not the first thing.

The Calgary Flames have continued to take calls on Matthew Tkachuk, but multiple sources have told me the asking price is astronomical.
This is the same propaganda Treliving has fed the media for the past seven years. He would be a great politician. Always close to getting a guy, always the hardest working guy and always asking an astronomical price. It's always the same story we hear but the result stays the same in the end.

LOL. Treliving has done none of that. And there have never been stories of him asking too much for a player. When was the last time he was a seller anyway?

If you’re keeping Johnny, I’d love to see what he could do with an elite finisher like Laine. Johnny and Dougie had such great chemistry with Dougie’s wicked wrister, I’d love to see the Laine one timer featured on our powerplay with Johnny QB’ing it.
Doubt they go in that direction with Sutter, though.

Don't want to interrupt another unprompted Treliving rant, but what makes you think Treliving was that source? And not one of the GMs or people in the room making the calls?

You really think GMs don't feed stories to the media? We hear nothing but great things about Treliving. I've heard all those things before. It's just nonsense at this point, I'll wait for the results to prove how great GM he is.

One-timers?!! On the PP?!!! When the F have the Flames ever tried that?!!

Literally nobody is talking about this or trying to convince you that he's great.
It's the reported asking price for a player... that's it.

Show me the evidence this all came from him. maybe you’ve heard about close deals because they were close. And maybe you hear he was on the phone because he was on the phone. I’ve literally never heard anyone claim his asking price for players was too high in any event. As for hearing “nothing but great things” …. Seriously?
Except that, at this point, Laine only does what ovechkin does - and ovechkin does it better. Laine would be on the 2nd powerplay. The 2nd unit only sees about 20 seconds of each powerplay - even less for Laine because ovechkin sometimes stays out for the entire time. The player issues/red flags works out for both teams but I don’t see the fit for Laine on the capitals as long as ovechkin is there.
