Hey now, I'm sure no CPC supporters have liquor cabinets in their homes. They know better than to expose their kids to drugs in the home.

Yeah but they have to twist off the very difficult lid. No where near as easy as cultivating and harvesting multiple large plants over a period of months without their parents noticing...

UCP says "Hold my beer"

http://pressprogress.ca/alberta-cons...ion-in-canada/

Quote:
Alberta Conservative MLA Ron Orr is worried that legalizing marijuana could send Canada down a slippery slope into communism.
Quote:
As Orr went on to argue, the “historical parallels” should be cause for alarm when thinking about legalizing marijuana, because the opium trade led to “a number of serious wars” and set the stage for “the Chinese Cultural Revolution under the communists,” a road he says he’s “not really willing to go down”

It’s no lake of fire comment, but comparing weed smokers to Chinese communists is pretty fantastic.

The “new” UCP everybody.

I always thought the Chinese Communists took power because the Nationalists were immensely corrupt and incompetent crony capitalists. Clearly we should fear a return of the rebranded PCs if we really want to avoid the Red Menace.

interesting item.
holes greenhouse has been in financial trouble for quite some time. (from what I hear form mutiple sources)
they've found a way to get out of it, by going into the pot business.

makes sense for a gardening business and greenhouse to diversify into pot. and if it saves them from going bankrupt, all the better I suppose.

Why can't conservatives get out of their own way?

This is an issue where conservative still look like donkeys. Peter Kents comments the other day comparing it to fentanyl was the dumbest comment from a politician I have heard in years.

Spoiler Alert: political Darwinism has determined most of them aren't fit for public office.

Conservatism used to mean something different. Now it is largely synonymous with charlatansim and anti-factual tribalism.

The Cons have like a 0.00001% chance of winning the next election. Do they really think the majority of Canadians are like their idiot counterparts down South?

You would expect a good strategy would be to throw some bones to the base who don't want it legalized, no need to go crazy. With the obvious understanding that taking a hard stance is going to lose more votes than it will gain.

The type of people dumb enough to align Trumps GOP with the Conservative party and thusly cast their vote for the Liberals are exactly the kind of idiots that voted in the GOP.
Canadian Conservatives are closer to the Dems than any party south of the border.

Not sure about what your first sentence means.

Your second sentence is correct. But I think what people are saying/seeing is the UCP aligning themselves with a fringe segment of their base (people who associate weed with fentanyl) rather than a traditionally fiscal conservative stance (who really should have no problem with the legalization and privatization of a profitable business) and think it will win them an election. Seemingly forgetting that in a parliamentary system, there are other options that "us or them", so aligning yourself with a vocal minority to try and win their votes can end up winning ONLY their votes.

If the US had a third party left of the Dems or right of the GOP (or both), Donald Trump wouldn't be president. He would be, at best, the leader of a party with maybe 20% of the seats.

I think we need to rename the thread, my vote goes to Ongoing Conservatives Have Lost Their Minds Over Marijuana Legalization Thread

https://globalnews.ca/news/3893335/c...anti-pot-poem/

Quote:
Sarnia-Lampton Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu asked the Senate to “keep our great country safe from all the weed,” in a poem on Friday.

The Conservative Party’s health critic Gladu delivered the anti-pot address ahead of question period, and has been a vocal adversary to the Liberals’ plan to legalize cannabis in July of 2018.
Quote:
My speaker, I want to protest an ill thought out bill,

That is passing through parliament here on the hill,

The bill that is bad is called C-45,

It has so many flaws it just shouldn’t survive,

The Grits will allow four pot plants in each dwelling,

Regardless of how bad each place will be smelling,

With mold, ventilation as issues unplanned,

This bill will not keep pot from our children’s hand,

There are more new infractions within this new rule,

That our courts will be flooded as will every school,

With drug-impaired driving and challenges there,

The doubling of traffic deaths and Liberals don’t care,

The provinces and police in every town,

Have all asked the Liberals to slow this bill down,

With nearly 200 more days left til the day,

Nobody but our party stands in the way,

We hope that the Senate will do its true deed,

And keep our great country safe from all the weed.
