Edit: also, this is in the Alberta politics thread. Seems his popularity is rising everywhere.

The leadership comment was also completely divorced from any commentary about whether he agrees with Smith or not.

And to add, I questioned PPs leadership, assuming he would pander to Smith. To his credit, he made the right choice. None of what you said is remotely true.

That’s the worst(or maybe just the least entertaining) advice I’ve ever heard in my life.
Time to make some new friends Dion.

I give him credit for taking a stand on it, but in the end Poilievre made the only statement he ever could make about the APP, and in doing so he revealed what a terrible strategy pushing this agenda really is. It is so unpopular that even the UCP’s closest allies federally and in other provinces can’t and won’t support it. In trying to “stick it to the feds”, Smith has succeeded in isolating the Alberta government and the Alberta conservatives on the wrong side of an issue that everyone in Canada (including in Alberta) disagrees with her about.
This is basically political malpractice. Even if the real agenda is something different from the APP, Smith has gained no leverage with anyone and has made herself look weak and out of touch. She’s not even playing checkers here—it’s basically Ludo and she’s missing half the pieces.

Maybe when the Cons are in power Federally we will worry about what they say. Until then it’s full sped ahead with the liberals in this game of uncomfortable chicken. Smith hardly looks weak when the Prime minister goes out of his way to cry about it.
I get it it’s too much heat for you this is big boy politics. This is literally the only language the liberals know MONEY.

So we can't trust the Cons that what they say before an election will match what they say after?
Really is a wonder how all that 'hidden agenda' talk ever got any traction.

Smith looks weak when nobody, including her conservative counterparts in Ottawa, want to touch this APP pet project with a 100 foot pole.

Fascists consider anyone who disagrees with them to be enemies, thus the UCP will always find an "other" to blame. They'll manufacture an enemy if they have to.

What game of chicken? Smith can't just decide that she's taking the money and going ahead with the APP. She's committed to a referendum (at the very least), and public support for this seems to be extremely low.
Then she's got this idea that Alberta is taking half the money, and that's clearly not happening just because she wants that to be the case.

As Kenney did with Notley, just continue to blame them for past, current and future problems they caused themselves...Also

It’s questionable that the Alberta government’s taxpayer-funded energy war room would try to sway the votes of Nanaimo city councillors in B.C., but the competency of the Canadian Energy Centre is even more questionable. The CEC claimed to have sent 2,452 letters to Nanaimo city council but none arrived before the zero carbon step code successfully passed third reading vote on Sept. 25. In fact, only 24 emails showed up in our inboxes — before final reading on Oct. 16.
