I actually don't mind his post game press, what I mind was his line deployment. How many times we've seen him putting the 4th line that has Lucic on against the other team's first line? At home? And his rolls 4 lines no matter what even when we were trailing by goals and more?

I would rather keep Sutter and lose the soft players that can't handle being coached by an authority figure.

I became a season ticket in 2005 because of 2004. I'm old, and I don't hate Sutter, but I definitely want him gone.

The only way I'd think about wanting him back next year is if it's confirmed that most of the players do not indeed hate playing for him and he has a plan to better utilize Huberdeau and play a few of our young budding players.

I would add his refusal to even try to match lines (which is similar to rolling them). The failure to address the powerplay at all given how important it is to success in the NHL.
The reason they aren't still playing despite all of those issues was the goaltending. However, a few more goals here and there may have allowed Markstrom to get out of his funk in time for the playoffs.

While I prefer that they keep him as I'm not sure the Flames find a more talented coach, the team needs to address some of these decisions.

It may all be moot, though. If Lindholm and Backlund are gone, then this team is retooling anyways and Sutter isn't the right coach for a retool when your top centres are Kadri, Dube, Rudizika, Zary.

Yes this. The PP wasn't good last season neither, but Gaudreau and Tkachuk saved their bacon. This season, without those two, it expose all the flaws. They should've fired Muller at the end of last season when the PP was sputtering and he has no idea how to fix it, just doing the same old, same old and hope the puck will just magically goes the net.

If those are the top centers the Flames will be borderline unwatchable.

Montgomery also made some changes in their style. I bolded the first interesting change
This sounds amazing.
I don't even mean that as a shot at Sutter, it just sounds like a refreshing strategy for the current NHL and something that would exciting to watch.

Thankfully we don’t have to worry about Rudizika being on the ice.

Yep. Some are clamouring for a rebuild and that would be it. They’d be a bad team that probably drafts in the top 10. I’m not saying they’d be good but that is the team without Lindholm and Backlund.

Sutter IS the problem.

We lost a solid GM and maybe some players because of this dinosaur.

Sutter may be the problem, but I don't think that BT had any solutions. BT was not exactly good at hiring coaches.

We know for a fact he got locked out of the Kings locker room. Sutter wearing on players is a fact just ask Drew Doughty. It's a fact that a handful of players in the current locker room don't want to be around if he's head coach. He's a good coach but he hasn't evolved with the rest of the league. His methods lead to an extremely short shelf life. Hell he won't even play nice with the GM for crying out loud. He's as dysfunctional of a head coach as there is in the NHL today.

I really struggle with Sutter as the coach of the Flames.

On one hand he is basically the only coach that this team has had in the last 30ish years that has consistently delivered decent results. The cup run, division titles, the playoff round win last year. There just is no one else in this organization that has his resume, accolades, and most importantly Stanley Cup wins. I know that Darryl has forgotten more about hockey than I will ever know. He supported pride day, he seems like a really good dad to Chris, he speaks thoughtfully on Truth and Reconciliation. I know there is a good and decent man in there.

But man he is just such an ornery S.O.B. sometimes it makes it hard to support the guy. And to think that his style and temperament pushed away Brad frustrates me to no end. He does not really give off the "collaborative approach" vibe that I think teams need nowadays. I agree with Bingo when he says he gets too caught up in trying to "stick it" to someone. Sure he has been hired to coach, he sets the line up, so in essence he has a right to defend his decisions, but it just seems like everything is done as a middle finger to the media, or the fans, or even conventional wisdom, like not using Toffoli in a shootout with the season on the line. The insistence on rolling four lines no matter what is also a bit of a frustrating as well.

I don't know. If players and now GMs are leaving because of him that is not a very good sign.

Never mind using Toffoli, how about using Nick freaking Ritchie!

Oops! Meant to read "not using Toffoli" as a reason to be frustrated.

Solid is a reach. Good GM maybe. Helluva guy. But not solid. No, not even close.

I'd rather have Brad as GM than Sutter as coach.

If Brad stepped away because of issues with Sutter that is ridiculous. Work things out like a bunch of professionals. Same with the players. We were some over times away from being in the playoffs and the conversation would be different. Then they report on people leaving like Brad that he was "anquished" over this decision. Give me a break.

For around the first half the season, he was abrasive and condescending to the media almost every single interview, whether they deserved it or not. It was actually annoying to watch. I'd tune in to get some analysis on the game and Sutter would just be seething and talking down to every question, it wasn't even worth having him on the podium. Honestly it was unprofessional as hell, and I say that as a big Sutter fan. He went overboard with that crap this season.

Then something happened after the Pelletier comments sort of blew up. I believe he probably got told by higher up in the organization to knock it off, because he was way more accommodating in his interviews the rest of the season. The tone changed quite a bit.
