Toffolli was supposed.to be the savior? Then why did we let him leave so easily. Easily one of our most consistent players last year I hold nothing against Tyler.
Start hating Kadri now or 10 games into the season you'll need a permanent spot in the suicide booth. Now there is another one of the biggest mistakes a gm has made bringing this selfish cancer into the room . IDGAFF what anyone says about Kadri I'd have never taken this guy on our roster.
Good lord . Bringing up Toffoli must mean its a hot summer boring day.

The Flames were a first place team with a good ability to challenge for the Cup. Of course it was a good move at the time that everyone liked. Do you have a post in here where you stated these feelings back then?
Dumb bump, lock it up.

I'm assuming a bunch on here still thought sacrificing our future was a great move.
It's going to get a lot more debatable this season. And next season. And the season after that.
All for a rental that got us nowhere.
I fully admit, this was not BT's worst trade lol. there were many trades which were far, far worse. You'll all come around soon enough here. Been a rough year for the "win now" crowd and it's gonna get rougher.
This trade may have delayed us a full year from being a contender. And people loved it. We've got an entire 5-7 year rebuild phase to remind them how much they loved it, and other trades like it.
|
So we traded Heineman + Pitlick + Filip Mesar for a year and a half of Toffoli (96 points in 119 games) + Sharangovich + Suniev
Sounds like a home run of a trade to me

I don't disagree, the Kadri trade was way worse. Although admittedly GM was forced into it, he created that situation that left him with no good hands to play.
I literally made one comment on the Toffoli thread last year and got out-gunned by dozens of "fans" who thought we were on a cup run lol.
I never even got a chance to comment on some of the far worse trades, got stuck on this one.

I liked the Sharangovich trade. BT never would have made that trade though lol. He never trades for players under 28.
We can always hope Suniev saves the whole situation but again, wasn't BT. That was a Conroy save. And still somewhat of a hail mary to save the situation as Heineman and the first rounder come around here.

Dougie Hamilton, Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin say hi. This statement makes as little sense as bumping this thread.

Thank you for providing other examples or trades that made us older.
Only trade there I liked was the Hamilton acquisition, just went downhill from there

your statement was purely based on age and I just provided some examples to the contrary. And there's many more ... heck, even Hamonic just turned 27 the summer we traded for him, so "BT never trades for players under 28" is just flat out wrong, yes?

It was 100% wrong and was obviously an exaggeration/jab.
The point of it, the constant erosion of our future, you are free to debate at your own peril

This is a pointless thing to say. How do you know Treliving wouldn’t have made that trade? That’s just a dumb empty comment.
Time to lock this thread up.

Those trades both made the Flames younger. Added a young Hamilton. Then traded Hamilton for two guys who were even younger.
Are you real or an AI?

Gotta love the desperate attempts to lock any thread up that exposes giddy fans who supported sacrificing our future to "win now".
Funny how that works

Did you even look at those trades before typing? I did like the Hamilton acquisition we never got younger.

Desperate attempts?
You’re the one who bumped the thread after +7 months of silence to prattle on about some incoherent gibberish that you simply had to get off you chest.

even with the benefit of hindsight, I have zero issues with the Toffoli trade at all. They were having a decent season and felt Toffoli was a great fit (and he was), and they didn't give up a whole lot. Late 1st (Mesar), B prospect (Heineman) and Pitlick ... yeah, I do that trade again in a heartbeat. I mean, Toffoli went on to have a career year for us, for crying out loud. Sure, 22-23 was terrible, but that wasn't exactly on Toffoli.
like others have said, bottom line is Mesar+Pitlick+Heineman for Sharangovich+Suniev, plus Toffolis contribution to the Flames. Not a bad deal at all.

Exactly how was the future sacrificed?
Sharangovich was a better player than Heineman at the same age, and likely remains that way. Suniev is very likely going to be a better player than Philip Mesar.
So how is the future sacrificed?

I think most people are just beyond trying to re-litigate a trade that was made years ago by a GM who is no longer here for a player who is no longer here, especially with a poster who just seems like he's doing it because he was looking for something to whine about.
That's how it works, funny or not.
