Rooney has been a great ambassador for his country but I do believe his time is done. There was definitely no point in playing him out of position when there are better options.
That Hodgson was even managing this team at this tournament given the World Cup debacle is ridiculous in the extreme. The Englisb FA are completely insane. A complete joke. Glad to see the back of Hodgson but it's not like the FA will bring in anyone better.
I hear Alan Shearer fancies the job. He's asked the FA before but they say he lacked experience. Hmm, like that has helped the recent crop of duds. Not exactly a fan of his but sure, why not? It's not as if he could do any worse.

This team with Leicester and Spurs being good this year was so easy to pick.
4-4-2 (diamond midfield)
Back 4 is Rose-Smalling-Cahill-Walker
Bottom Diamond - Drinkwater
Left Diamond - Henderson or Albrighton
Right Diamond - Dier
Top Diamond - Alli
Strikers - Kane-Vardy
You can change a few of these pieces like Milner in the midfield or Sturidge up front but you have to keep that formation.
Or if you want a flat and wide midfield instead of Diamond then it could be Albrighton-Dier-Drinkwater-Lallana. But it has to be 4-4-2.

Honestly wasn't it just them booing their own team?

Yeah, that seemed a little too over the top to be true, but at the same time no England player shook hands, there were no shirt exchanges, they just slumped to the field feeling sorry for themselves and then left.

i think the truth is somewhere in middle as it always is. The Icelanders as the winners should console the losers. But they probably got caught up in the euphoria as well.

Might have been a good idea to read Arnason's tweet before you fabricated that bit of info.

I really don't get why some idiot would go out and fabricate fake quotes like that. Like, don't you have anything else to do? Maybe I just don't get social media.

I 100% dont get social media. No arguments there.
Some people just have a lot of free time. What we need is Festivus so there can be a face-to-face 'Airing of Grievances.'

Gareth Southgate being favourite to succeed Roy Hodgson as England manager is "scary", says Harry Redknapp.
Hodgson resigned on Monday after England were knocked out of Euro 2016 in the last 16 by minnows Iceland.
But Redknapp said Southgate was only seen as a favourite for the job because he had won a "second-rate tournament" with England Under-21s in Toulon.
"Why should he get it in front of Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce, who are proven managers?" asked the former QPR boss.
When it was suggested that Southgate knew the way the Football Association (FA) worked as well as the English "system", Redknapp responded: "Knows what system? The losing system? He knows the losing formula?
"I like Gareth Southgate, he's a great lad, but what's he done?"
Redknapp, speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, said former England boss Glenn Hoddle, 58, was a more suitable candidate.
"I think he had an idea of how he wanted to play," said Redknapp. "He would have come up with a system that we all know how we're going to play."
However, he said he did not "have a lot of faith" in the FA making the right choice.
"Look at what they've done in the past," he said. "We've had Sven-Goran Eriksson. It's scary. They are going to make a right decision one day, but I probably won't be alive to see it."
Redknapp also suggested former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood as a possible option.
"He's got passion, enthusiasm, I'll come and work with him all day," said the 69-year-old. "He's young, enthusiastic, knows the game."
But he played down suggestions he might finally get the England job after missing out to Hodgson in 2012.
"It was a long time ago I was one of the favourites," said the former QPR, Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham boss.
"I don't fit. I would love to manage England, but I'm a realistic person and I realise I've got absolutely no chance."

The bolded red bit is telling, but confirms what most people have always known. That they tend to shy away from individuals that like to speak their mind preferring safe candidates that will toe the line.

Well then, there is no need to state so definitely that they didn't when you are clearly unsure.

Arsene Wenger would be willing to discuss the England job with the FA when his contract at Arsenal expires next year, according to British media reports.
Wenger, 66, has been tipped as one of the candidates to succeed Roy Hodgson as England coach, but the Arsenal boss has consistently said he will see out the final season of his current contract before making any decision about his future.
