It was clarified. It is clear. It takes significant effort and ridiculous mental gymnastics to misunderstand his multiple posts to imply that Andersson is not being traded...
It really requires people to ignore the evidence of Conroy's actions, ignore the words Conroy has said, and then twist the info coming into this thread...

I don’t have to squint at all - I can read !
I however interpret it the same as most.
That doesn’t mean people who interpret the way it actually was written are idiots or 1/100 as was insinuated or outright said

I can't believe Andersson is choosing this, the 2025-2026 season, as the time to retire early, with his value as high as it surely ever has been. Most Flames thing ever.

This ‘Rasmus is gonezo’ thread is basically the message board equivalent of refs looking at video review with multiple speeds and unlimited angles until they lose sight of the obvious.

I wonder why these "big 3" are the only ones in the rumor mill. Especially when the two forwards seem to have reluctance to go and have trade protection.
I'm not demanding a huge sell off of 5-6 guys, but there's almost nobody above 25 I see as untouchable. maybe Hanley suits some teams, Cooley, Backlund Frost... is there a single one of these guys you think "no we can't take calls on him"

I refuse to believe that anyone was genuinely confused by the first or second message from Royle. Nobody can be so obtuse as to misinterpret those messages in good faith. No coincidence who "misinterpreted" those posts and then thanked them.
Trolling - Posts to intentionally incite or provoke others. C'mon now.

Andersson is a pending UFA. Kadri and Coleman have significant trade value and are aging. Their value will never be higher than this year, so it makes sense to trade them.
Cooley wouldn't get you much, and you need a backup anyways.
Frost is young and not worth as much as Kadri. You also need some centers if Kadri is gone.
Hanley maybe you get a 6th, meh.
Backlund maybe you get a mid round pick, but he just signed an extension a couple months ago. Not a good look to trade a player that quickly.

Backlund, Huberdeau, Weegar are essentially untouchable. Due to full NMCs for the first 2, and a full NTC for the latter.
The rest really depends on the offers. If a team offers you good value on Sharangovich, Farabee, Frost, Hanley, Zary, Bean, Pachal, Klapka, Beecher, Lomberg, or Cooley then I hope the Flames pull the trigger.
Bahl is an interesting one, and I think you need to keep him to play with 1 of Parekh/Brzustewicz as they figure out the NHL.

While that is true, it does not properly respond to my post, which was responding to someone suggesting "Andersson is Gonezo" means that poster is not certain we will trade Andersson...
That is nonsense.

There are only so many ways for a player to leave a team and we know Conroy won't walk Andersson to UFA.
Happy to see your evidence to the contrary. Knowing that there is none, I won't wait.

I’ll dumb it down though just so we’re crystal clear:
1. Andersson is gone - It’s not if it’s when, timing tricky for all the reasons people have highlighted. His value is going up which is great, will miss the guys swagger for sure as well. Mutual decision, leaving on good terms.
2. Kadri - controls his fate in the sense that his 13 ntc isn’t much but he’s on great terms with Craig and vice versa, Craig’s not going to send him to a dead franchise for him to play out the rest of the contract. Craig respects what he’s done for this team and his desire to rebuild here, but if trading him makes the Flames better than Kadri said he’d do what’s best for the team. There’s enough interest that I would consider him also probably moving.
3. Coleman - Few teams interested, playoff teams wanting exactly what he brings every night. Value is there, but likely the lowest percent chance to move, if he’s moved I’d bet on a homecoming in Texas for family reasons.
I think the main thing to takeaway here is that all 3 guys love the team and the city and have a connection to wanting to see it through. Speaks volumes for how Craig and ownership treat these guys, lord knows there’s not a lineup of superstars wanting to play in CGY.
I’d bet on 2/3 moving.

Coleman's the type of player that will likely get a late first round pick if he's on an expiring contract at next year's trade deadline.
So if Calgary is limiting their trade partner to just Dallas this year, they can hold out until next year's trade deadline and trade him to one of the 10 teams not on his NTC -- unless Dallas is willing to part with their 2027 first and maybe a little bit more for max retention.
I see a decent leverage position for Conroy in this one because of that and he can still honour that relationship.

I think you are reading his trade clause backward.
"Clause Details: 2024-25 to 2026-27: 10 team trade list"
That is a 10 team yes-trade list, which could also be expressed as a 21 team no-trade list.

Andersson also refuted the summer stuff to LA for the most part.
|
I find the validity of insiders and whether to take them with a grain of salt is directly tied to whether the insider info confirms what a poster wants to hear to further their point or goes against it. And that's everyone, not just "the negative crowd", the title some have given a bunch of posters here to quiet them down.
I would also argue that if you're going to say we take insiders with a grain of salt I would say the same thing of players comments when being asked about potential trades and reports tied to them. We know these comments are often fabricated/dismissive to avoid speaking about rumors and details of behind the scenes talks involving their contracts/trades.

I can't help but look at Anaheim, whose only big hole in the lineup is on defense... and Roger McQueen eventually slotting in behind McTavish and Carlsson.
