By the way, this project is about to commence. Quite ambitious, will bring a whole new feel to Crowchild Trail and the local neighbourhoods.

How in the flipping hell did this get prioritized over a bow river interchange?
Wait housing developers lobbied. Never mind.

I'm not thrilled with this design especially that weird half traffic circle on the east side. On the animation they show vehicles existing from both lanes onto Crowchild and also going west over the bridge to the West side. That would be a right of way nightmare.

Canada Lands Company is putting up a considerable amount of its own money into this. They're running the Currie Barracks project.

No matter where "housing developers" do anything, they're still the a-hole. I wish they'd all just disappear, and we could just build ourselves favelas.

Is there really enough traffic in the area that they need all that?

Interesting. I had a meeting with ATCO yesterday and saw the preliminary drawings for their development lands on 50th ave and Crowchild. They should be made public soon but I really like the concept. I can't remember the architect on the project but I think they are out of NYC.

There is enough traffic right now that an upgrade is needed but the whole project is aimed at the future development on the Currie Barracks which should bring an additional ~20,000 residents to the area. It would actually be even better if the city could improve Crowchild and 33 Ave because that is woefully over-capacity and extremely backed up during most times of the day.

Do you mean Lincoln Business Park or is it something completely different?

Ignoring that it's for future growth, the current interchange can back up quite significantly onto Richard Rd.
It doesn't help that cars trying to get onto Crowchild North or South are forced into the same lane where the existing south exit is maybe 200 meters before the exit northbound.

I may be missing your point but I'm not sure I understand your concern here. Many traffic circles allow two lanes to exit from the circle. The only difference I see is it is not a full circle (nor could it be as there is no SB exit).
Or are you saying it would be confusing to drivers since it is not a (full) traffic circle and, therefore, they would not follow the proper right of way rules because it isn't?

Watch the animation careful. Either the folks that put together the animation don't know how the flow on a traffic circle works or the City is screwing around with the proper flow of a traditional circle.
The right lane on Flanders coming out of Garrison should exit straight onto Crowchild northbound but instead vehicles are proceeding straight over Crowchild. At 12 seconds watch the pink car in the left lane of the half traffic circle who is trying to go onto Crowchild north get cut off by the purple car in the right lane that heads across the bridge. The pink car has to stop in the live lane. There are other similar instances of chaos and confusion.

I went to Bowness Park for the first time in many, many years and I really like what the city has done and is doing with the park. The new wide pathways replacing the circular road way is really nice for biking, rollerblading and walking. I like the new shelters, picnic areas and fire pits. The updated lagoon area should be pretty nice but I didn't get a chance to head over there to check it out.
Has anyone ever heard of plans for bridging Bowness Park and Baker Park directly?

Just staying at the Marriott here in Toronto on Yonge and Bloor. Across the street they are building a massive condo complex called One Bloor East that's 70 stories. Calgary needs a couple of these dotting their skyline.
