If lindholm does not want to extend , considering ownership no rebuild policy, there should be no 1 st round pick involved to diminish player return. I’m on rebuild team , but I know ownership is not . If the guys that pay the bill say no rebuild then go full in on re tool

Lindholm I expect will be traded but that’s because the Flames wagon is already tied to a player your hoping to return to form. You can’t have two unless you got a few impact ELC Players. Another team will gladly take that risk on a Lindholm rebound - Columbus, Ottawa, New Jersey, Boston are few...

Hanifin is a interesting part that isn’t getting a lot of consideration. I think Kylington is a better player and more loyal ($$$) to this franchise. Teams are going to be looking at Hanifin next contract as a Weegar-lite…

Backlund needs to be handled as well. There is an obviously landing spot in both conferences if he wants to go playoff hunting but I know a team out east is very interested if retention is there.. I expect a 3x3 will be offered at the tail end of the summer but he also kinda already flashed his cards.

Tanev hasn’t requested to be moved and I doubt would be healthy enough to be.

Toffoli really enjoys it here in Calgary but I think if he’s going to sign that sweetheart deal it’s not going to be here sorry flames fans. Silver and Black.

Wolf needs a clear path to the NHL but it doesn’t have to be paved…so move over Vladar or Markstrom or…Both? This will be the biggest challenge because we’re losing any way you slice it… Short term suffering.

Craig will be given time to establish a organizational identity and culture - Say one year but as that arena starts to take shape so does the “future” of winning. “I’m not even allowed to use that word around here”.

I'd rather read Sec214 insight than so-called experts on Twitter.

Wow..
It seems we may get a re-tool if the "Section" is right. I think a lot of that makes sense to me.

I hope we send all those guys for picks and or young players on entry level deals.

I love the idea of getting Wolf a path to play. Just gotta think Vladar will be moved. I'm not sure Markstrom can ge moved at this point.

Could be an interesting June/July.

I hate that the Flames are in a position where they have to make big changes yet again this off season. IMO this team can easily gain 10 points in the standings with an injection of youth, league average goaltending and Huby bounce back.

Being somewhat forced to weaken the center ice position and possibly the D core as well makes returning to 100+ points much less likely IMO.

Toffoli to Kings for Arvidsson +?

Lindholm gets moved, Backs is moved. And just like that, that's a total cleansing of the core. I'm not counting the d men in the core because they've not even hit their collective primes yet.

First step is Flames to identify new core and a captain and assistants.

Toffoli and Hanifin to Kings for Kempe, Anderson-Dolan, and a 1st?

Totally agree, we cannot assume Kylington will ever play well in the NHL again. I will believe it when I see it.

If they view Kylington as a top-4 defenceman, which I'm guessing they do (and he is) - then Hanifin becomes expendable.

Weegar - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - ?

There's your defence.

Picks are still useful for a contender. You can flip a 1st rounder to a rebuilding team for win-now talent

Just like that, the Flames centre depth could go from being one of the strongest in the league last year, to barely passable if both Lindholm and Backlund are gone.

Not trying to discount any insiders here, but what was actually just "released" in that post? It is speculation and he just stated it as such.

Speculation from someone who knows people - sure. Nothing more than that though.

To me, the goal is to resign Lindy.
There's too much money spent on D. 5/6/7 should be less than 4 mil and right now they are at 7. That's where I make a move. Not sure who exactly needs to go, but that's what needs to be addressed.
