He was bad yes, but hard to say worse than John Terry & Glen Johnson..
JT had the hamstring issue, and Johnson carragher'd a goal.
He's been great on both wings for United this season.
I'd sooner like to see Sterling given a run too.
I thought Terry and Johnson were two of England's better players in the Euros. I can see moving on from Terry, but I don't see a whole lot of competition for Johnson at RB.
Its too bad players choose to go to City, as they just disappear there. I really thought that Micah Richards, Scott Sinclair, and Jack Rodwell could be important parts of England's future, but its hard to pick them when they just don't play that much.

Own goals don't put me in their favour. Nor does a goalkeeper shredding you from 80 yards away, like Neuer did to Terry & Upson.
“When people have said I’ve not been good enough for United’s midfield… sometimes I do wonder what is good enough for them. I’ve had a fantastic time here, winning 4 titles in 5 years, 3 CL finals. It’s there for people to see, if they can’t, so what? If people don’t realise I’m doing something right, then does that matter? The only thing that matters is the next trophy” — Michael Carrick.

Samba: "Well I dunno, things are pretty good for me in Russia as a fella of my complexion"
Harry: "100k"
That's more than every United defender, except for Rio.
Liverpool suffer from it too. If you're not a team challenging for titles or playing in Europe you have to overpay players to play for you. Money is the only equalizer.
How else would QPR be able to get players?

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

For the most part, yes agreed.
That's not what I'm speaking to. It's the senility of Harry.
Says big spending is really bad, and the previous manager did it wrong.
Then does exactly that.
In this qualifying, Roy has to offer an olive branch to Carrick. He's been stiffed ridiculously. He initiates that with offering Carrick a starting 11 spot at Wembley against a world super power.
Michael "If I am not starting don't invite me" Carrick?
no thanks
Don't care how good someone is, once they do that to playing for their country they are out for me

Don't let the facts get in the way of your juicy tabloid story. And yeah, I'd salivate at the thought of Sandro with Carrick in the middle for 'Spur's still too.
He was a starter. The best option. Then gets invited to the World Cup in 2010, only to sit.
Every. Single. Game.
More titles, than every other CM option. Actually, you have to sum the other CM's trophy cases together to even equate to Carrick's.
He was one of only FIVE players not to play a match. You know who else didn't play? Dawson, Warnock, Heskey & Hart. Two obviously don't rate. One is past his prime. He didn't play his best keeper, nor play his best holding midfielder.
Yet, this manager digs in his heels to fight for his choice in captain John Terry. This same manager's last seven invites to Carrick, resulted in ZERO field time. So what does he do? He's been treated like crap & asks not to be invited by Capello if he doesn't start at the Euro's. What's the point? Logic didn't prevail before for the ol don, why should it that summer?
Let's not disregard, that his son was 5 days old, when he had to leave for South Africa. Oh no, no no no guys.. for God & Country right!
So then why go? This brilliant manager, obviously doesn't rate him. And then Roy comes trotting in and through misunderstanding from the Capello escapade, he hears Carrick won't play for England.. and doesn't invite him. No phone call. Nadda.
Finally:
Quote:
"He [Hodgson] didn't have to say too much. I still want to be part of England, that is why I am here. I know I will get a fair chance and if I am playing well enough and deserve my place I will have a chance of getting in. If I don't, I won't. I am not here to think I should be playing or guaranteed a place by any means because that is not what playing for England is all about. It is up to me to earn the right to be in the squad."
So yeah, I'll get a lil jacked, when everyone's so quick to stay aboard the Carrick doesn't-rate-train.
my argument was not on talent (we disagree on that, although SAF rates him and he has forgotten more about football than almost anyone else has ever known) but him turning it down
I don't care how he was treated, he said no, to me any reasoning (outside of a drastic situation) is not enough

It was a drastic situation. His decision was a fair conclusion.
Here's a request:
Has there been any player invited by his country 7 straight times, not to play after being a starter - before the age of 30?
Just got home from the West Ham-Swansea game. Very entertaining and enjoyable atmosphere. The West Ham supporters were expecting to be manhandled and a loss. The possession seemed pretty even and the hammers had the better chances. Good to see big Andy score.
