Way to go West Brom. That was quick.

That's terrible. I know that he's put the club in a poor place but I can't imagine how uncomfortable his current position must be for him.

There is only one place, TFC.

Not gonna happen. If LVG ends up at Old Trafford, then it's likely that Pochettino heads to the Lane. Not that I'm entirely convinced on that move either.

Well that was a fun ride. It's unreal that he hung on as long as he did! Still waiting conformation of course, but it does sound as good as done.

I dont see a well established coach like LVG wanting to take United on for a short term.
Vidic and Ferdinand were both over 30 and required constant rotation due to injury and are likely both going to be gone.
Evra is 32 and seemed offended at Moyes trying to replace him with Baines. Hes also likely gone and even if he isnt hes been terrible this season.
RvP is looking like RvP of old, playing about half of the games, and even then he has been unimpressive and again, over 30 and seemingly disinterested.
Carrick has been one of their better players. 32.
Giggs goes without saying.
Nani is under contract, but who knows whats going to happen there?
Kagawa and Hernandez probably have other plans for next season.
So that leaves:
- Cleverley (shudder)
- Fellaini (shudder)
- Rafael
- Smalling
- Jones
- Young
- Welbeck
- Valencia
- Evans
And thats if the new manager even likes these players.
I dont know, I dont see this as a team thats one or two guys away. They are more or less a whole team away and even £100M wont buy you a whole team, just ask Tottenham. £200M might not even do it.
And then FFP is being enforced this season, I dont even know how that factors into things because United arent going to get a lot of money for the guys being shown the door.
It isnt looking pretty.

... you left Rooney and Mata off that list. You know that, right?
apparently they only have to pay Moyes a one year pay-off after failing to qualify for CL:
Quote:
The Glazer family, who will be in Manchester next week to help oversee a managerial recruitment process in which Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp is a front-runner, appear to have sanctioned the removal of Moyes as far back as the Champions League defeat at Olympiakos on 25 February. The decision to get rid of the 50-year-old was discussed and possibly ratified at a recent United board meeting but there is a financial motive behind delaying removing him until now.
The mathematical impossibility of United finishing in the top four this season, following their 11th Premier League defeat of the season at Goodison Park on Sunday, means that United need only give Moyes a one-year pay-off under the terms of his five-year deal, rather than honour the full four years left on that contract. Ryan Giggs could then take over as caretaker manager for the final four games of the season.

What exactly did you see in him that surprised you that he was dropped?
His tactical astuteness? His eye for spotting talent to fill gaps and snapping up bargains? Like he did with Fellaini?
Sure, the team had weaknesses but no more than Arsenal or Everton and this is pretty much the same squad that won the league at a canter last year. 57 pts and mid table is a miserable failure despite these weaknesses. The team had no structure, no tactical awareness, no self belief and were a bunch of fragile beings under him.
Don't mind the man but it's pretty cut and dried. He was a failure. A total failure. He was in wayyyy over his head. Time to stop the bleeding and not a hope in hell give him access to the coffers for the summer's transfers.
It makes perfect sense.

A bit of a scapegoat for the problems with the squad left by SAF, doesn't help that many in the squad were pissed off by the surprise departure of SAF after promises were made, and then pile on that the previous history with Rooney which he had to spend all offseason to try and patch up.
Even with all that considered though the season was a failure and the moves he diddle were not very re-assuring.
Could they have given him another season? Probably but patience is not something you often see at the big clubs anymore.
Look back at Liverpool last year though for a counter point to that. In Feb. last year Liverpool were 29 points off the pace, eliminated from all competitions, and people were calling for Rodgers head. The moves he made hadn't paid off, Suarez was going to be transferred, and Swansea were looking better without Rodgers than they did with him. They were patient with Rodgers though, kept Suarez, and now they are going to win the title.

Ryan Giggs is set to be named as Manchester United's caretaker manager following David Moyes' sacking. An announcement from the club is expected later today, it is understood.
United will also try to move quickly to install a permanent replacement for Moyes. It is understood that Holland boss Louis van Gaal is the favourite to take over, but another potential candidate in Borussia Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp looks to be out of the picture.

Giggs for the last few games, van Gaal next season ... I'd be happy with that.

It's been a fun ride Moyes. I'm not sure anyone will be able to make Liverpool's rivals quite as mediocre as you have for the past decade.
LVG will be interesting. He seems like a total nutcase, but he sure knows his football. At the very least, Man U should be back to playing a brand of football that is easy on the eyes.
