Probably not. These promotions are short-run, expect all Canadian companies to drop it after that date. I'd sign up for it now and not regret it later.

They want me to sign up for a 3 year deal with less minutes, free minutes that start at 7 instead of 5, and with 1GB instead of 6GB.

A standard hardware upgrade requires NO change in plan as long as you already have data. Whichever fido rep told you that was bsing you, or trying to get you to sign on as a new customer rather then hup for commission purposes.

I called Telus up and negotiated before I got my phone as well. I was in the same situation - a bit more money for less stuff. They transferred me to loyalty and gave me a lot of stuff to match what I currently had. (Early evenings, free caller ID, 100 extra minutes)

Soooo does anyone know if the line ups still exists for this phone? I find it hard to believe that there could still be line ups after a month and half of it's original release date......

Ha ha no, obviously not. Seriously though, even when the iPhone first debuted in Canada it wasn't this hard to get one. All of a sudden a newer version comes out and people are lining up at 6am 7 weeks after it's release.

Ahh, I'm never going to get my hands on one.

Now that they are on all the major carriers people aren't bound by their contracts. I'm still shocked that the line-ups are still going though.

In case you 3G owners missed it, update to the latest software, and your old piece of crap phone will become new again. At this point, I'm glad I didn't get a 4.

You can likely sign up for the plan before you get the iphone.
That's what I did way back when they first had the 6GB plan and the first iphone came out.
Get the plan with you current phone, and then when you get the phone in 1-2 weeks, you're still good to go.

Has anyone on Rogers upgraded from a 3G to the 4? Wondering how much they charge without extending your contract.

I updated my 3G. It's better but still doesn't compare to the speed of the 4. Once you're used to apps opening immediately after click the icon you can't go back.

since apple royally skrewed up on this phone (reception issues) they are still scarce as a new version is coming out sept 30th
