If Monahan can improve on his first 2 or 3 steps he will become a dominant player and since he is still only 19 I have full belief that he will accomplish what he wants. He seems to take his training very seriously.
It will be scary if he is a fast skater.
I have been saying it all along, if he can be a faster and more dynamic skater, watch out.
meh, i don't really care about this tournament, so have just followed along in this thread reading updates of our guys there (Thanks btw!).
most rewarding parts of the tournament:
- Gaudreau showing that he is able to continue to adjust to the level of competition at every stage of his development chain thus far.
- monahan having a seemingly quiet tournament, but good to see he progressed in more ice-time as he gained the coaching staff's confidence
- the oiler's savior of a goaltender choking away an elimination game.
Speed's not really his game. In his exit interview he did say that he wanted to mainly work on his explosiveness, so maybe that will be something to watch out for come fall.
I agree. He's got a good stride but his first couple of steps need work. If he can get to loose pucks faster, he'll have more time to make a play or get around defenders.
nothing wrong in my opinion. pissed player not giving stock interview answers. in the end his team won, so he wasn't just being a ****, he really felt his team should be winning, and in the end they did.

He's in the entertainment business. We all don't like parts of our jobs, but courtesy and respect should still be a basic courtesy here
Russians being classy winners again. Backlund gets a match penalty after a dive outside the play by a Russian, when Backlund put a glove in his chest in the dying minutes of the game. Then the russian coach makes a cutting throat gesture towards the swedish assistant coach.
Why would anyone on this forum cheer hard for Russia to win this tournament (unless they are Russian themselves)? Russia brought their strongest team roster against the weakest possible rosters sent by US and Canada. I wonder if a win against weak teams feel that good to them?
