It isn't like they are old vets.

Wouldn't it make more sense to keep them over the nothing players you get from those picks and see if they can develop?
Because Scott Pioli is a moron who rode on Bill Belichek's coat tails? He only makes a trade like this with either the Patriots or the Dolphins. I'm sure Parcells will laugh his ass off that he fleeced his numb skull son in law if this deal happens. Personally, I can't see this happening.

If that kind of trade happens, it will be a big F U to all Cheifs fans.

I mean, sure you didnt' draft them, but given the proper opportunity or coaching, they could be great players. Seeing as they are both still in their lower 20s. Trading that kind of a talent for a few draft picks has a "Jared Allen" type failure written all over it.

If you are going to start from scratch you need to deal whatever assets you have. When you are a bad team no one is going to give you anything for your worst players. If the agreed goal is being competitive in 3-5 years then decent players with less than 3 years left on their contracts are the only asset he has.

It took the previous regime a few years to get into this mess, and it is easier to get into these issues than get out of them.

I think less than 1/2 a season is a bit soon to make final judgments.

As a Chief fan I hope they hold onto these guys for the rest of the year, and try to get them into their mold during the offseason. These guys are talented players, but maybe don't quite have the work ethic yet. Still players can develop work ethics and it's still early on in their tenure in the grand scheme of things. If it doesn't work out than move em out during the offseason when you've had more time to know that they can't work.

I hack on the team pretty hard, but there is some direction starting to show. I'm seeing things that lead me to believe their culture is starting to change and the players are becoming less selfish. Talent is a huge issue, but a lot of detail things are starting to show as the Chiefs getting this thing turned around. Dorsey and Bowe could be pretty key pieces if they do start to "get it". As a word of advice to the Chiefs....from a guy who knows little about football. Quit drafting these LSU guys who think they can coast on talent. Start going after USC guys who have pro style work ethics!!!!

No doubt, I totally agree. Bowe is in his third year and Dorsey is in his second. One would think that these are young players the team would want to build around. Especially Dorsey, they say it takes 3 years for a DL to become productive in the NFL. Giving up on him now just seems so wasteful.

I'm as patient as they come. The thing that does not give me much confidence with Pioli is the fact that he can't seem to deal with any other team other than the Patriots (his former team) or the Dolphins (his father in law's team). The deal he did last night sending DL Tank Tyler to the Panthers for a 5th round pick was the first trade out of 5 that didn't involve the Patriots or Dolphins. Heck the Chiefs are even working out Joey Galloway who was released by the Patriots today. Its like a broken record.

For sure.

But I just know for the past few years your sig was to fire GM of 20 YEARS Carl Peterson, and here we are 6 games into the reign of Pioli and you are calling him a moron.

It could be a few looong years.

And I agree that he should be trading with more franchises than just the 2 he has had ties with, but then again early on those are the teams he will know the best. Personally I think Cassel was a crazy deal and would tend to agree that you would want to keep your younger guys who have shown promise, but without knowing what the long term plans might be or how those players feel it is a bit premature to string Pioli up.

That trade never happened. There were only 2 trades at the deadline today.

My sig to fire Carl Peterson was right after the Jared Allen trade. That trade tore the guts right out of this Kansas City Chiefs fan. I almost want to cry thinking about it. I only had that sig up for a month or two.

I could explain the numerous things that Pioli has done to really question his genius label, but it would take me an hour to type it all. Even the Cassel trade wouldn't have been that dumb if they would have at least kept the Chiefs best receiver as well as adding more offensive talent. The real problem with this team last year was the defense which set an NFL record with only 10 sacks the entire season.

Maybe I am just a crybaby. But man, when your team is 7-31 over the last three seasons you get a little cranky. Obviously a lot of the problems stem from Herm Edwards going young philosophy. God! I could go on for another hour. I'm going to shut up now.

From a dolphins stand point it is too bad, my guess is the asking price would have been extremely steep. Not many teams want to give up alot of draft picks.

Eagles trade Brandon Gibson and a 5th round pick for St. Louis LB Will Witherspoon. We need the LB help but I hate giving up Gibson.

Tennessee no doubt. I had the Broncos at 4-0. I'm certainly surprised they've won 2 more but not nearly as surprised as the Titans going winless....and it's not just 0-5, it's how they've done it. Outside of the first game, they've been god awful on both sides of the ball.

Lucky?

Agreed. If Rivers wasn't an absolute beast, San Diego would've been blown out. The Chargers were completely dominated in the second half.

I actually feel bad for Rivers. He's one of the better quarterbacks in the league, but he's stuck with a crap offensive line and idiot head coach.

We've discussed this much earlier in the thread but for me the biggest surprise has been how bad Carolina is. How does a team that had an amazing offensive line and 2 good RBs that ran up and down the field last year... return the same 7 guys and can't run at all this year? Did they suddenly forget how to block?

Lucky in the sense that it was an OT game and they would have been just as unlucky to win the game. When the game is that close and the teams are equal-ish talent then it takes breaks to win the game.

I have been watching plenty. (Thanks to the CBS regional games)

Also realized in my bad quoting that SD got included in there.

Wasn't meant to be that Denver got lucky to win that game although you could argue they were lucky that SD goes with Norv as head coach as with a real coach SD should be able to beat them easily.

I know that is weak logic but I am just trying to make up for my poor quoting in the earlier post.

Chiefs have signed NT Kenny Smith who spent last season on IR with the Pats. I think the Chiefs need to hire some scouts to scout other NFL teams.
