Eberle has been horrible this season. I think he was hoping he was on the same trade train as Hall now that he's not a golden boy in Edmonton thanks to McDavid

You can start to feel the desperation rolling off Oiler fans as their team start to sink. It tastes like Cinnamon.

He should bring that up with the head coach.

He should probably get some other players that dont suck then. That would be a good start.

The Oilers relying on their #1 wunderkind has sort of been their Modus Operandi for about a decade.

Say...wasnt that something he was brought in to fix? Is whining about it his only solution?

You know what would help them out? If they had one of the best scoring wingers in the league. The type of guy who scores at nearly a point per game pace, even if you put him on a line with much less talented players like Travis Zajac or waiver fodder like P.A. Parenteau. That type of player would really help. Too bad those players almost never get traded.

Yeah...those kinds of players are impossible to come by, you usually have to draft them.

Didn't Babcock say thanks to McLennan for over playing McDavid against the Leafs?

McLennan is playing McDavid way too much. Constantly double shifting him and keeping him on the pp for the full two minutes.

He needs to look into the mirror.

- Milan Lucic, who signed a monster deal during the off-season, has one goal in his last nine contests.

I for one don't have a problem with that.

He was supposed to at least earn his pay for the first 3 or 4 years of that contract, before being a burden for the remaining 3 or 4.

It's funny too because if you are on that team and not named McDavid it probably grinds your gears.

All off-season: It's all about McDavid

Home Opener: Let's show 10 minutes of clips alternating between McDavid and Gretzky, there have been no other players in Oilers history (Mess was just third wheel).

Every Win: OMG! McDavid is awesome and only reason we won.

Every Loss: OMG! McDavid is awesome, the rest of the team is why we lost.

Probably has to get pretty old knowing that no matter how good (or bad) you play the only story the next day is going to be McDavid.

Fixed that for you. I was going to include playoff games as well, but you know... Oilers.

With all the double shifting he gets, you have to imagine McDavid's point totals are slightly inflated, too. You know compared to the other forwards that are getting the typical 14-17 minutes of ice time.

Where's that poster that said 1.5 PPG was sustainable for McDavid? He's now a hair over PPG while being gifted more ice time than any other forward, and falling down to earth a lot faster than last season.

Also a shame that guys like Pitlick who I thought was looking impressive for a guy that came out of the rough of Edmonton's system get overlooked cause it's a McDavid circle jerk every night. Eventually the special treatment has to rub a few guys the wrong way, particularly when things aren't going well.

It's also awkwardly ironic when McLellan says they're relying on McDavid too much while he double shifts him on a nightly basis. If you want all your lines to feel accountable to produce then roll four lines and don't give special treatment. Maybe reducing McD's ice time will make him work harder for it too?

But don't listen to me. Just keep doing what you're doing, Oilers. I'm just speaking nonsense.

His ice-time isn't really out of line with other elite forwards.

But if you were to think about getting a player like that, you probably could offer up a 3/4 dman to get it done. just theoretically, because they almost never come on market.

Huh. Turns out he's about where you'd expect.

I dunno what people were saying then. By the sounds of it, he was being grossly overplayed.
