As stated, bullpen is a little scary, the rotation is down right frightening.
Also need to find a decent back up catcher.

That lineup looks old, or am I wearing hockey glasses?

Not sure about that. Quality over quantity. Stroman, Pillar, Travis, are pretty good young guys. Prospects in baseball are plentiful. Sometimes they turn out great, most times mediocre. Sure the Dickey deal didn't turn out as planned, but almost any other deal involving prospects going the other way, didn't work out. Look at the Halladay deal and what that ended up. Heck, look at what dealing prospect Lawrie got us? Norris may turn out alright, but doubtful he's ever an Ace. Anyway, no biggie.

Talked about next year, who immediate resigning priorities were, refused to discuss his own future at all, and said "Now's not the time to talk about that".

It didn't give me a warm and fuzzy dealing. A lot of it had to do with tone.

Yeah no I don't buy that he was talking like he wouldn't be back next year. AA said it was his choice not to talk about his extension while the team was competing in the playoffs and he didn't want to talk about it today because he was there to discuss the teams season hence "Today is not the day to discuss his contract".
IMO, Shapiro has no reason not to bring him back. When the Jays won the AL East clincher fans were shaking his hands when he was sitting the stands and praised all the work he did to end the 22 year old drought. He was pretty much a fan favorite as well.
Regarding his comments about the season, AA said they are very interested in bringing Price back and the passion shown by the fans during the run has given them a good shot at signing him back. He hoped Estrada would be back. Dickey put himself in a good position after the All-Star break so his option could be exercised. Devon Travis and Ryan Goins will fight for the starting job at 2B. It's a good problem to have in the outfield with too many good players (Revere, Saunders, Bautista, Pillar and Pompey) and it gives them options.

I'm not worried about Shapiro not wanting AA back, I'm worried about AA no wanting to have to play second fiddle to Shapiro who is likely going to be very hands on given he just left the GM chair in Cleveland.

I think you are reading too much into it.
AA for whatever reason seems to play things way too close to the vest when it comes to the media so my guess it is just him not wanting to confirm anything until 6 months after the contract is signed.
He is a Canadian kid and has been with the Blue Jays for quite some time so I can't see why he would want to leave. Plus there isn't really a better opportunity out there for him to get paid more or to have a better chance to compete.
As for Shapiro I think it is a no brainer to bring him back. Blue Jays fans are in love with him and he is a perfect scapegoat if things go wrong in the next couple of years. If you let him go and next year doesn't go well there is a huge target on your back and the blame will go right to Shapiro.

Some good articles written today on the TSN site on what to expect from the Jays this offseason (and a separate good 3 minute video from Steve Phillips). The Toronto Star site also has a Richard Griffen article written to warn that there may be a power struggle on the horizon between Shapiro and Alex IF Rogers previously allowed Shapiro full autonomy on the team with final say on everything. I think from all these articles and video, they're pretty spot on. Alex did a fantastic job this year on some of the best deals any GM has ever done to make that big of a dramatic change, that I think he can be trusted to not get caught up in a bureaucracy. Rogers is obviously a corporation so there will be some bureaucracy, so that's to be expected, but again, I think AA has a smart enough baseball and business background that he should be given enough autonomy to do things his way for most transactions. Alex has also said that his home is paid for and he's from Canada, so money isn't the issue. One would think that autonomy is, so I think that's his bargaining chip.
As for this off-season, I imagine Rogers will increase the budget slightly to re-sign some existing players, but I don't think increase dramatically enough to just add. I do think there'll have to be creative trades to shift salary from batting to pitching.
