So, post debate analysis time:

There were no clear winners, but no obvious losers either IMO. This outcome probably benefits Harper the most since he's the incumbent and the front-runner, but he had an opportunity to put Ignatieff down for the count and failed to deliver.

Don't know. Maybe that's just part of protocol?

If it only makes sense that it was a coalition, then they would have signed an agreement stating their intentions to form such a government, just as Layton and Dion did two years ago. We are going in circles here, but there is no proof.

My order is

1.Layton
2.Ignatieff
3.Harper
Duceppe is non relevant.

Too bad i would never vote NDP, although if JLay can somehow abolish the senate i would vote for him.

Only if you're a partisan Conservative. None of the candidates came off poorly; who you think "won" the debate depends entirely on your political leanings.

I thought Ignatieff was ok, but not great and he came across as petty.

Layton did a decent job

Duceppe was duceppe

I think Harper did well, nobody landed a solid blow on him, he didn't lose his temper and he was the only guy that actually have to rely on policy and fact.

The debate format is still flawed, its basically a 3 on 1 bashing.

The guy who designed the set must have seen my dads rec room.

I would basically state

Ignatieff Harper a tie (Harper was solid, didn't come across as angry Harper. Ignatieff kept repeating the same stuff, but he didn't do a great job on his policy)

Layton came across as a used car salesman, he hammered Ignatieff on the attendance record and was the most relaxed.

Duceppe He didn't have anything to use, looked like a a%% on the immigration issue, and his Quebec is a nation thing. His closing speech was awful and he read too much off of his cue card.

Ignatieff really missed the boat on hammering the AG's leaked report I think, but the Liberals dont' seem to attack as well as the conservatives.

Oh, there was one big loser in this debate: the moderator.

Yeah they teach that at Harvard.

He wasn't as strong but to say he is an idiot, angry or confused just means you are a Conservative.

Nobody landed a blow on Harper that really stuck, and Harper didn't lose his composure.

People complain about Angry Stephen, but Ignatieff lost his composure with Layton, and came across as angry at the start.

I don't know if the opposition members did enough damage to change voter perspective that much.

And this is the worst interpreter ever.

Duceppe did very well if you take into account his intended audience. He doesn't care what we here in Alberta think of him; I bet he scores very highly in Quebec for his performance.

I think the mistake in that was the demand to release the final report. They came across as not understanding that the AG final report cannot be released until parliament is sitting no matter what the Prime Minister says.

It was grandstanding at its purest.

He should have started twirling it around at the end like a longstaff to show how hip he is.

All four parties have asked the AG to make a special exception and release the report, though.
