No more NMC or NTCs please. Especially for UFAs that we shouldn't be signing to start with.

Then you aren’t signing any player with leverage.

Bergeron either won or was close to winning the Selke pretty much every year of his career.
Lindholm has come close once when he finished 2nd to Bergeron.

Lindholm is way closer to Danault than Bergeron.

Maybe not a rebuild, but he might be ok with a retool. Getting younger but still trying to win.

I am fine with that, especially with UFA's from outside the organization.

Your allegation of a racial motive was made up out of whole cloth. I don’t even know if you know the reporter involved. You can’t look it up. That was before votes were made public. It’s not even known if it was a Francophone

Fair enough. I guess I was just assuming a reporter from Quebec would be a francophone. You could well be right though.

I know that there were several Montreal reporters that also only gave him a 5th place vote in addition to the rumoured person who left him off the ballot completely. But this was above airing their homeboy Jose got the award and not because Iggy is black.

Ok, I didn't even read where it was a race issue, I thought we were discussing about how they voted to get their goalie the award. I agree it has nothing to do with race.

Picking up on @topfiverecords trade summary post in one of the PGTs, I put this trade together between the Flames and the Devils.
To New Jersey:
G Jacob Markstrom (15% retained)
D Noah Hanafin
To Calgary
D Brendan Smith (cap dump)
D Seamus Casey (or Lenni Hameenaho)
2025 2nd round pick (if Calgary retains 50% on Markstrom this becomes a 2024 1st round pick)
I don't think the Devils will move Holtz or Mercer to make this trade work.
Who says no and why?

That seems like a poor return for either guy let alone both.
Maybe if it’s a first that works for Markstrom but doesn’t interest me as a return for Hanifin.

Yeah, I hate all the homer trade proposals on CP, but that is too far in the other direction. That's a garbage return.

Markstrom is easier to trade (and retain on) next year, when he has signing bonuses, his actual salary is way cheaper than this year. Assuming, again, he waives.

The Devils fans are saying Casey won't be on the table for that return.

So a 2nd round pick and a former 2nd round pick for a retained Markstrom and Hanifin. Why not throw in Lindholm as well if the Flames are getting that good of a return? I mean Casey is an undersized dman who does not put up lights out points, who could turn that down?
