I doubt her story to be honest, and you can basically go on line and get a certificate that your pet in an emotional support animal.

I'm with the airline, provide a note from a vet that its healthy, and a note from a medical professional that she has to have this animal.

Frankly I don't want to sit on an airplane with a bunch of dogs and cats and freaking hamsters stinking up the place and firing up everyone's allergies.

She's angling for a lawsuit.

I'd trade crying babies and the huge guy sitting next to me for dogs, cats and hamsters any day of the week.

Wow. Duterte reaching new lows.

Quote:
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte last week told soldiers to shoot female rebels in their genitals, the latest in a series of violent, misogynistic remarks.

Addressing a group of former communist rebels on Feb. 7, Duterte, who served as a city mayor before becoming president, appeared to encourage Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to target women in conflict.

“Tell the soldiers. ‘There’s a new order coming from the mayor. We won’t kill you. We will just shoot your vagina,’” he said.

“If there is no vagina, it would be useless,” he continued, appearing to imply that women are useless without their genitals,” according to local media reports.

Don't these arsehats have better things to do?

A cancer survivor was fined $2,260 for driving patients to and from hospital appointments
http://nationalpost.com/news/canada/...#comments-area
Quote:
For more than three years, the woman has been a regular at an outpatient clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital, providing rides to and from the clinic to patients who aren’t allowed to drive after being sedated for procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies. She refused tips, at first charged only $10 round trip, an amount to cover the costs of gas and maintenance, her work so appreciated by medical staff that many consider her a critical volunteer. She offers to get patients safely situated at home, rather than drop them off at the curb.
But years of good deeds may have come to an end after bylaw officers arranged a sting operation Feb. 15: An enforcement officer called her for a ride, saying he was a patient getting a colonoscopy; she even providing words of reassurance on the ride to the hospital. But after he paid her, another enforcement officer ran over and issued her two tickets for owning and operating a vehicle for hire without a licence.

The fact that there were multiple people involved in that operation, and nobody thought to say "hey guys maybe we shouldn't do this", is baffling to me.

I wonder why someone first didn't speak to her and ask her to stop as she didn't have a license, instead of doing a friggin sting.

also wondering why the hospital doesn't just hire her as a driver if she's offering such an essential service. I'm sure they can find the money to at least pay for her license.

I talk to people on the phone ALL THE TIME who have to literally cancel or not book operations because they don't have anyone to pick them up and make sure they're safe. You'd think maybe a bit of education to her about how to do it legitimately might have been a better option. There are very little options for people who don't have the friends or family to pick them up.

the hospital/clinic should have spoken to her. you'd think they'd know a bit about liability.
she's charging for rides. If she gets in an accident as an unlicensed vehicle for hire, both she and the clinic would have had a really big problem.

her can insurance sure as heck wouldn't cover her for it.

Absolutely. Which is why the right thing to do here, pretty obviously, was to sit down with her and explain the issue, and try to come up with a solution that allows her to continue to provide what is obviously a service to the public and the health care providers while ensuring that she's properly licensed and insured without placing a prohibitive burden on her that results in patients no longer getting this service.

Or, start providing a public service that accomplishes the same ends, as it's obviously necessary.

another good example of needing to hold off judgment until one can get the whole story.

"“I have used her ride service a number of times for non-medical reasons,” the neighbour wrote. “I worry that her story is intentionally misleading the public to believe she is a good Samaritan being victimized by an aggressive bylaw department that is not following the rules.”

South African triathlete Mhlengi Gwala is recovering in hospital after a roadside attack left him seriously injured, as unknown assailants seemingly attempted to hack off his legs with a nearly-blunt saw on Tuesday.

A friend of mine, cycling in the Durban area was robbed by three people this morning, Then they attempted to saw off both legs with a chainsaw. Blade too blunt and only got half way through one and started on the other. Absolutely disgusting! How safe are we on SA roads?

South Africa is a scary place these days. Rampant robberies, racism, and massively high levels of violent crime - a lot of it seemingly random. I have friends who just immigrated to Canada from Cape Town because it's becoming increasingly unstable & unsafe. They wanted to start a family, so decided they had to leave.
