Mika Zibanejad fits the profile. (big, young, affordable, right shot C)

It was a quote stating that Treliving has a target in mind that nobody here thought plausible.
And I know hes prob not coming here. Wonder what it would take to get him though.
Malkin
Monahan
Backlund
Down the middle would be pretty sweet

I'd love Zibanejad, but he scored 30 goals last year and was almost a point a game player on a very bad NYR team.
I don't see that as very affordable.

I wonder with Dundon's unwillingness to pay top dollar for talent, if Aho could be had out of Carolina.
Monahan for Aho?
Monahan gives them a proven goal scorer and cost certainty. Aho gives us a more dynamic center to play with Gaudreau.
It's a long shot, if it was me I would just pay Aho, but Dundon has shown that he does things differently.

Why on earth would Carolina make that trade though?? Aho is clearly the better overrall player.

Affordable cap, yes.
Affordable to acquire, I very much doubt it.

Dundon has showed little unwillingness to spend money. I imagine Aho will be compensated handsomely. They certainly aren't trading him for Monahan.

Is this true, tough? Didn't the guy basically just get there? Plus he just received three rounds worth of playoff revenue, not to mention likely a huge spike in attendance and revenue next season.

He didn't want to pay Hanifin or Lindholm and thus they are Flames now.
He wasn't willing to pay the going price for GM's and thus kept Waddell whom he was already paying.
I said it was a long shot, but Dundon might not want to pay Aho the $9m+ that he probably would get elsewhere.

My other thought is Brodie to Tampa for J.T. Miller. Brodie helps their defensive depth which is going to take a hit with 3 regulars going to UFA. He also makes $600k less than Miller.
Miller is very versatile and has some grit. He can play all 3 forward positions and can play in all situations.

I can’t believe anyone would trade this player. But it happened once, let’s make it happen again.

9 million? Not sure how Calgary could afford him either, with Tkachuk's negotiation still an unknown...

Carolina's cashflow situation when Dundon arrived was horrendous. The Storm Surge and the team's success has completely changed their economics.

Of course, I've been saying for years SJ needs to rebuild.

People were saying SJ had to rebuild a few years ago. It’s not going to happen. No one is better at adding younger guys on the fly (with later round picks too) as they stay competitive every year. Hertl went from good rookie season, to middling winger while he got his game going to top 2 centreman.
They might lose Karlsson but you never know. I’ve heard he likes it down here.

With Tampa neeing to clear cap space i would have to think J.T Miller is in play. That said i doubt they want the cap hit of Brodie. Wonder what they would think about Janko and 1st? Janko and Kylington? Granted i'm not sure how we would fit in Millers cap hit.
That neal signing really hurts. We are paying over $5 million for a guy that has a ways to go to show he is even an everyday 3rd liner. I see somebody like Kessel available and flames can't add him. Kessel is a point a game player and at $6.8 million thats pretty good.
