I don’t what the return for a Vladar would be - maybe a 3rd round pick?
Honestly, I am not sure Pittsburgh even has plans for this season. It seemed like an "all-in" type of off season to make the playoffs. So no idea if they pull the plug on the season or try to salvage it. Really messy spot for them right now (and likely next few seasons) I think.

No real rumours because Craig hasn’t officially put him on the block.
Teams remain interested though, and I know Buffalo was one who’s been keeping an eye on since the summer.

One thing I was told today though is that Craig is very active calling for young centers and is willing to give up a 1st for the right price. Was also told that at the start of the year teams were checking on Kuzmenko but that talk has fallen right off a cliff, no calls at all.

One name to keep an eye on is Weegar, there’s interest and although I haven’t been told this specifically, I do wonder if he’s one of the vets that may not want to ride out a rebuild.

Love the update Royle thank you.

Agree using a 1st for a young center being that pick can be recovered by moving Ras or Weegar. Picks can be magic beans and I am not opposed to using that capital for a young player who has some experience but has a lot of upside.

Sad to hear that about Weegar, I get it though. Wonder if Ottawa is an option for him? Honestly his contract looks excellent for what he brings, should be able to get a great return. I wouldn’t hate moving them both, perhaps bringing a young defender back as return and bringing in FA to support next year.

Depends on who’s 1st. We don’t even know what 1st we have this year.

Dallas really needs a quality D.

Andersen for a center. Wyatt Johnson looks to be struggling

I don’t think Chabot is a cap dump, perhaps a little overpaid but 3 yrs younger and a top 4. He will age better than Weegar likely.

Johnson is definitely struggling and I highly doubt they ever move him... But stranger things have happened. That would be a dream if he is at all available.

He has never been a plan player in his career and he is overpaid.

What are we gaining here ? Greg a a 3rd liner ?

They better be adding a 1st they are getting the best player in the deal by a large margin n

He won’t age better because he does not know how to play defence. He is the worst defensive dman that the Sens have. He is not on the 1st unit PP anymore because he has been passed by Sanderson. I suspect Staios would love to dump him. Think Evan Bouchard defensively without the offence and you got Chabot.

Noted! Hahaha

There are lots of teams that would be interested in Weegar. Would be able to get some significant assets back.

Trading a first this year strikes me as incredibly stupid especially at this point. Unless there’s some further plan to recoup one, I guess.

How can it be universally described as stupid without knowing the return?

If we're making a deal with Ottawa, then Greig would be a good start- but other than Yakemchuk (who they would never trade), their prospect base is pretty thin. I don't see much of interest there.
