Did my best to honour Johnny by contributing to Mathew’s go fund me. Still can’t think about it or talk about it without tearing. Utterly heartbreaking

Anyone remember the Gaudreau vs Giordano challenge from the 2015 All-star game that was narrated by Morgan Freeman? The original video is no longer available but this is Gio interviewing Johnny afterwards:

Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life.

It is often through tragedy that we find our best selves.

I’m not saying that’s the reason, but it’s something.

I'm not sure this story has already been told here, but it was one of my favourite.

Apparently when he arrived he was given the temporary player and smallest dressing space in the room. I believe in the corner. As he developed, grew up, signed contracts he was offered a "better locker room space" and he turned it down because his was just fine in his words.

I thought so humble and/or maybe superstitious.

You know us NHL fans might learn to like Gary Bettman yet - classy assist!

There’s no doubt on how much Johnny Gaudreau was a significantly figure in the NHL, and it was even more evident on Tuesday evening when Montreal Canadiens winger Cole Caufield announced he switched his jersey number to 13 in honour of Johnny Hockey, who inspired him.

The number change was appropriate and moving, however, some fans will be stunned to find out that it took a special exemption from Gary Bettman to get it done.

As much as fans love to hate Bettman and most of his antics, this is a great move by the NHL commissionner. Gaudreau was beloved around the league and I’m sure Bettman did not even hesitate to waive the exemption for Caufield.

Both Kelsie Snow and Meredith Gaudreau seem to be two of the toughest people with how they've faced their family tragedy.

And it really calls out how ####ty these last two and a half years since that Gaudreau goal in game 7 have been (May 15, 2022), both on and off the ice.

Lose to the Oilers, Gaudreau & Tkachuk leave, Chris Snow passes away, the teardown of the roster, Lanny's heart attack, and now the Gaudreau family tragedy.

In the end it's nothing compared to what the Gaudreau and Snow families actually had to live with, but man it hasn't been easy to be a fan of this organization the past couple years and I do feel for the people in the organization who are even closer to the people impacted by these tragedies.

Monahan can been seen during the first ~10 seconds of this video....tough to see him so visibly gutted. Hopefully he's going to pull through this ok.
I just want to give him a big hug.

Damned straight.

And Calgary is here for them. We've proven that.

They'll never walk alone.

The first time he's back in town this year we'd better blow the roof off the dome cheering for Monny. That would be as good a "hug" as he could get from us.
